Here’s a couple pictures of the fabric loosely laid over the top of the front panel…not stretched tight or fastened yet. Also a glimpse of the stain color, however, it hasn’t been clear coated yet because I’m still deciding between satin or semi-gloss?

Thanks Leon and Dale…the long side-rails (3” wide with compound angles ripped the entire length) are being worked on right now, then on to the front cap!

Re: Slow Progress is better than No Progress.

Sorry for the “Slow Tease” but my woodworking friend had some work of his own to take care of, plus, a couple of his key pieces of equipment needed unexpected repairs…and as he uses the really good vintage type stuff, it was hard to find parts! Things should start up again on Monday (hopefully!).

In the meanwhile, I have been dialing in the A/C cover wood panels…and I think it came out pretty good! I can’t attach the fabric yet, as we will have to do all the panels at the same time to get proper alignment of the palm tree design, but other than that, it’s done! I installed “Rivnuts” for all my attachment points, which allows for easy installation and removal of the individual panels. The A/C cover section has the two “mirror image” sides plus the full width cap…all held firmly in place with just three stainless steel machine screws with beauty washers, which gives a nod to to original headliner.

I do have plans to “clean-up” the plastic A/C cover…but haven’t decided if it will just get painted or dipped with an “appropriate” beach-themed pattern? I’m also planning to make wooden slat type vent covers to replace the plastic ones that disintegrated long ago! Ideas just keep popping into my head!
