WTB - Parking Brake Support Rod for 71 K10

I'm looking for the support rod that attaches to a triangular bracket on the passenger frame rail for a 1971 K10.

Calling it a gem is generous, but I'm pretty excited about it anyways. Haha. I will be bugging you for parts soon. I just started a build thread:

Mine is missing, and I've never actually seen one in person, but I'm guessing it is somewhere around 12" long. I'm imagining it has a hook on one end, and it has a saddle for the cable on the other end.

Re: WTB - Parking Brake Support Rod for 71 K10

I was going to try to make one for my K20. (1967 so probably different than your 71 K10)

I pestered Clay in his build thread to see if he could get me pictures and dimensions.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...&postcount=164

I had this - https://www.inlinetube.com/products/inl14355 left over from a C10 and tried to make it work. Instead of a hook I just ran it through a random hole in the frame like the C10 and used the part they are calling the 'equalizer' on the end to hold the cable like a C10(aparently 67 K20 also looking back at Clay's pic). It works good enough I quit looking for the right part.

My original intention was to bend the long rod from inline tube to replicate the hook. Might be a project for another day.

Thank you. That kit from Inline Tube looks like a good starting point for fabricating one.

That looks similar to the one in the photo I posted above, but maybe shorter. How long is it? Do you know what truck it came from?

I can measure it tomorrow but I'm not sure what it came off of. It looks the same as the 4x4 blazers but a different length.

Will do. Thank you, Brian. I'm thinking this piece must get lost easily if the parking brake cable fails since it is just hooked on there.

Hey Patrick, we haven't been around here this past week but to maybe help you along in your search, here are a couple of old thread links with a few of our detailed pics showing the K/4wd specific front parking brake cable and intermediate cable guides from stuff that was parted in the past. Your 71 K frame would use the 9" front pass side guide rod that hooks into a plate/bracket that is riveted to the upper RH frame rail. The K frames without a riveted bracket use a 14" forward RH cable guide rod that hooks directly into a slot in the upper RH frame rail, again the 9" forward guide rod hooks into a riveted plate/bracket and the 14" guide rod hooks directly into a slot in the upper RH frame rail. Good luck on the search, Mel

Thanks so much, Mel, for the detailed information. The one that 1rippen6 has looks to be what I'm needing if it measures at 9".
