More progress
After inventorying everything it looks like its all here, another step in the modernisation of my 71 Burban, Im still trying to decide on what shocks to get, wont do much towing all road and cruise

The more I get into it the more Im replacing, on the bright side wifey came out to see the progress and asked me what I was replacing, I told everything but the arms and spring, I told I couldnt afford it them , shes like the springs are old and rusty and 50 years old get new ones
So Im , gunna get 2 drop springs |

happy wife happy life, at least that's what I've been told. guess i never figured it out since I've two ex wives.
are you going to put power steering on it since you're replacing the suspension ? looks like you are doing it right by replacing all the worn out front end stuff. keep the pics coming.

More progress on the Burban Suspension upgrade
A full afternoon of fighting rust grime and abuse the Control Arms are disassembled and soaking in POR15 Degreaser On trying to feel optimistic but the outer threads look toasted and not much threads left Unless they typically look that way, if they are done, no sense pulling the ball joints out |

I've always thought the same about those threads when I've seen them. It always seemed like a lot of torque on barely there threads. But I've never stripped any of the 3 sets I've done. You could clean them up and replace the bushings and bar before painting and removing the ball joints. That way your not wasting your time if they strip.
Maybe post a picture of them and we can post our thoughts on them.

Thanx for all the support, I followed most of the tips and the new ball joints are in. The uppers fought me all morning the lowers out and then in. The backyard hack in me bought the Harbor Freight set worked like a charm

A little more progress on my 71 Burban suspension rebuild

Lots of progress made on my 71 Burban front suspension rebuild
All done except brake Caliper was seized so ordered new set for front, and lost/misplaced upper control shaft zerk fitting. All in all a learning curve to say the least everything that was rubber it a bushing is new |
