Re: Borg Warner super t10 in place of 3 speed

Back in the 90's I swapped a Muncie M21 into my '70 3 spd truck. Probably put 150k miles with the stock bellhousing mounts and no rear crossmember. Compared to the Muncie, I was surprised how heavy the 3 spd was when removed.

Re: Borg Warner super t10 in place of 3 speed

I have a super t 10 out of a vette in my 69 c10. I removed the bell housing mounts and used the aluminum corvette bell housing. I also installed the automatic crossmember. I felt like it would better support it further back but who knows. The output shaft is the same as a th400 . I have the hurst shifter for a c10 and it comes out right at the seat so I built an adapter to move it forward to clear. The clutch spline wasnt an issue but I don’t recall which clutch I used. First gear seems a little tall to me but the engine wants a 3k stall so take off is rough either way. If you need any pics or questions feel free to ask.

I did the same in a 55 Chevy car. Didn't put that many miles on it though!

Just be sure to check the bellhousing mounts when you're under the vehicle. They have been known to sag with age.
