Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)

Ok its update time. Got a mysterious vibration with the truck in part and revving from 1100-1700. Got a thread on that one with the details. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=278364

I got the horn fixed I think. I will check it tomorrow and see if its behaving or not. Had to put a new horn kit in it.

Heater controls are next. I need to get a LED bulb for the heater controls light and after that its going to be take it on a test drive around the block to make sure all is well. If all goes to plan then its going on a 10 min drive onto the freeway 2 exits down and back. If that works out well then its time to make a dump run. My wife has been tossing stuff in the back for a dump run while its been sitting in the driveway. Guess that shows shes confident it will be able to resume it duties as the dump truck.

I put the headlight bezels on tonight, screwed in the instrument panel and took a look through the inside to make sure I did not miss anything.

Talking Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)

Its been a while since I updated this so here goes. I had a issue with what I thought was wire melting which turned out to be the paint/coatings burning off of the engine/exhaust manifold. I had let the truck sit and idle but never got it up to 1000-1500 rpm. Now that has been taken care of and I am hoping to get it out on the road for a 15-20 mile round trip run.

All I have left to put back on the truck is the splash guard that goes under the grill and I need to order up the chrome strips that go around the grill as well as the clips that hold them in. Other than that I have a cable to replace for the heater fan and a few more small things. Thats it for now. More later.

The grill splash guard is back on as well as the bumper. I need to figure out how I am going to notch the bracket for the drivers side front bumper bracket. I am waiting on new heater cables to come in so I can replace those as well.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)

All in all I think its very close to being done. Just got some small things that I need to prder like the grill chrome, new tail light lenses with gaskets, new heater cables, (one broke off as I was putting the new heater controls on figures) and fix the dang horn. Hard to believe its been 14 months since I started this but I would do it all over again.
Now I just gotta spend some time on the 327 that I picked up for it
