Help Identifying SWB frame
I purchased this frame for a 72 c10 short bed build I am doing. It was advertised as a 72 frame. Can someone please help me confirm this before I spend time on getting this thing ready. It has front disk and drum rear. Its hard for me to tell the difference between the years as they as look so similar. Thank You!

Re: Help Identifying SWB frame
'72 would have disc brakes. I believe that the serial number is stamped on the frame, but it may not include the year information. If you can't find welds or fish plates, it's probably the real deal.

Re: Help Identifying SWB frame
The top of the drivers side front frame rail near the steering box should have a partial vin stamped in it. It will have the year, plant code and sequence number of the vin. As an example my 72 K20 has 72J160173 72 for the year, j for Janesville, and 160173 as the build sequence number; 1 is a check digit. Mine was the 60,173 truck to roll out of Janesville in the 72 model year.
If you’ve got front disks it’s most likely a 71-72 frame.

Re: Help Identifying SWB frame
It's possible they could have been changed, but t clam shell engine mounts also say it's '72.. As others have said, the numbers on the frame will tell the story...

Re: Help Identifying SWB frame
If betting were allowed I would put a dollar on that being a 1971 frame, built in Baltimore. Which if google is correct, is a city that is somewhat near you.

Re: Help Identifying SWB frame
I don't know what the year is, but If you're piecing a frame to a cab, I recommend getting documentation from the DMV or State Police.
Every place is different, but up here in Kootenai County, ID, Vehicles being transferred from out of state are subject to a "VIN inspection". They WILL check the vin on the frame and if It doesn't match the title, they are likely to IMPOUND the vehicle (at the owner's expense) until it's figured out.

Re: Help Identifying SWB frame
The disk brakes and coil rear springs say 71/72. Motor mounts "should be" 73 or later but who knows what goes on during an engine swap.
I'll agree that even if you have a title to the cab it is a bit risky these days to not have it inspected because of the frame change and have that documented by the state. You need a bill of sale that states that you just bought the frame as parts or the receipt from the wrecking yard if it came out of a wrecking yard.
