5.3 exhaust manifold o-ring?

Hey guys,

I need help identifying my exhaust manifold gasket o-ring. Not a donut.

This is the o-ring that goes at the bottom of the exhaust manifold before the exhaust pipe.

The engine is a 5.3 from 2004 Buick Rainer AWD.

I thought I had it found, but the one I purchased is too large.

Guy at the local GM parts counter said the one I have was used on all 5.3s from 99-on.

See pics. I appreciate the help guys.

I've never seen but one size on the 5.3. Is it a little bit too large? I've had them where the seem to be 1/16 to 1/8 inch too large, but I've never had them leak once I torque them down.

Re: 5.3 exhaust manifold o-ring?

Gentlemen,

Wanted to say thank you. You were all correct. At first, I thought I had already removed the gasket, and the actual o-ring was supposed to fit down in that groove between the o-ring and the inner tube. It took a friend to show me I hadn't actually removed the gasket, and I did have the correct part. Wanted to say thanks again.

Re: 5.3 exhaust manifold o-ring?

I bought some cheap manifolds for my ls swap. Exhaust Manifold Kit 9988-R-BLEM . The flanges to bolt onto manifolds came with whats looks and feels like rubber orings. Have i smoked to much happy lettuce or is this legit to use?? Thanks for the thread great advice.

I will say that this o-ring doesn't necessarily "feel" like metal, but definitely is metal of some kind. The old one was darker too, so it looked even more like not-metal.

Re: 5.3 exhaust manifold o-ring?

Random input, my 2000 Silverado 5.3 has two different gaskets - one side is the mettalic one pictures above, the other is a much bigger "insert" donut.
