Need 1973? axle ID help
Once upon a time, my truck was wrecked. Originally it came with 3.42s in a 12 bolt, now it has 3.07s, and I think the whole shooting match has been swapped at some point. I’m just trying to figure out specifically what year this rear end is.
Markings are TAA W165 1 on the top of the axle tube. E153 cast on the pumpkin for what I’m guessing is a date code. Gears are marked 14:43 GM 6 73 2-17 My guess is they pulled it out of a junkyard. I want to know if it’s 4wd or 2wd from the factory because it currently has a bent axle shaft. I want to know if they pulled the factory one out of the bent axle, or if it was bent prior. Or what. Any ideas?

Looks like its from a C10- TAA code correlates to C10 with 3.07 gears. Another thing- if it came out of a K10 (4x4) it would be 6 lug axles, unless they swapped in 5 lug (2wd) axles assuming yours is a C10.
