restored tax tip
Do not know if issue in your state. Here in NC if you have older truck they send you a tax bill based on it be fully restored and priced to show it.
I had a bill based on my 1969 panel for 42k tax value. After a phone call I found out I would have to send pics to show it was not restored. Well let say I sent them pics of panel truck. They then dropped value tp 2k. My suggestions take lots of pics of truck before restoring it and put in safe place for future use.Lets say just in case of.

Re: restored tax tip
That's insane. It sounds like the proposed tax on unrealized capital gains.

Re: restored tax tip
yes NC charges a yearly property tax on any vehicle you own based on value in addition there are other fees License, Title , Highway Use tax, and property tax.. out of the property tax is a town tax county tax and an EMS tax.. my boat trailer is $100 a year and my 2019 ram 3500 is almost 900..

Re: restored tax tip
I wonder what a flat sales tax % would be if they eliminated ALL other forms of government taxes and fees (vehicle registration fees, gas tax, income tax, employer/employee fica, you name it). I bet it would be shocking how much they take. It’s spread around so you don’t notice it as much.

Re: restored tax tip
this is how i got my 2002.
a guy bought a 72 BMW 2002 in 1989. he drove it a couple months and blew up the motor with youthful exuberance. he had a partial rebuild done and drove it till again he suffered the pain of blowing it up. he parked it and put it on a "non highway" title, which here in kansas does not require insurance be carried and only property tax be paid. fast forward 32 years and the state wants to levy tax value based on what a 1972 BMW 2002 is selling for. he went to court, and lost. in july they wanted 2k in tax! he sold the car to me for less than that. I went to the inspection station after insuring it and then after a fistfight (figuratively) with the inspectors, they removed the non highway status. I immediately registered it as an antique, $18 a year in property tax. why tax values are so backwards i have no idea but gouging guys with antiques makes no sense because we are the primary voting age. just recently they passed legislation to allow modified suspension and drivetrain to antiques, all thanks to powerful petitions of fed up tax payers.

Re: restored tax tip
Kinda same here with antique tags, one time fee ($25) for life of vehicle in my ownership. Mississippi has some high car tag prices because of the taxes built in. This was the first place I ever ran across that. Then I heard of other states that seem to me to be crazier..

Re: restored tax tip
My inlaws ran a Stuckeys in Miss for a couple years back in the 80s. He told me of taxes there. New vehicle tags were outrageously high each year and decreased as the vehicle value went down. A crankcase tax on oil products. But then, you don't have some taxes that other states do. Being used to what we have, I sort of feel fortunate.
