Re: Wider rearend
On the trucks the 67-69 were narrow and 70 was a transition year so you need to measure them to see what you have. 71/72 were wide.

Re: Wider rearend
My 83 C10 has a 89 G10 rear end so my 17x9 rims fit perfectly without spacers. The tires have a 1/2 inch from the edge of the bed.
My rims are basically the same offset as traditional 15's |

Re: Wider rearend
Sorry not sure how that effects question. I just want to know if its 70 or 71 that was wider. Wheel fitment has nothing to do with it just want wider track and have lots of room to move outward.
While on it do most truck have posi or is it rarer in trucks?

Re: Wider rearend
If you measure backing plate to backing plate on your rear end there is a thread on here that shows that measurement on the narrow and wider rear ends. Sorry I do not have it handy to share.

Re: Wider rearend
I think it is a 71 in mine and it still has the 6 bolt axles. I believe sometime during that year they changed to 5 bolt. Yup, the wider one definitely looks better.

Most every 1970 I have ever seen has been 6-lug and the same wider width that the 71-72 housings have. Of course there are some that say the early 1970 trucks had the narrower housing. 4x4 stuff is all 6-lug but is totally different since they are set up for leaf springs. And to confuse things more, there were 2wd c10’s that had leaf spring rearends also. Both 6-lug and 5- lug.
