How do I find date code on 5.3 liter engine ?
Ok I have been going crazy trying to determine the date code on this engine I just got Does anyone know how to determine this ? any help would be awesome !

Just above the water pump on the right side should be a code. The letters are the month A=january L=december the next two digits are the day it was cast the last would be the year A156 = Jan 15th 2006

Not trying to revive an old thread, but the months are as follows:
A = Jan B = Feb C = Mar D = Apr E = May F = Jun G = Jul H = Aug J = Sep K = Oct L = Nov M = Dec Source: I've got a "M066" date coded LQ4 block. It breaks down to be cast on Dec 6, 2006.
