HydroBoost again
The fire cooked my booster, so i thought i may as well convert as it is likely a new bullet is in the cards and vacuum will be questionable. Lots of threads on the subject but many are junk yard conversions. So Cal is limited on junk yards and most key parts are gone within hours. So I need to pay for a kit. I see ebay kits in the 225 range up to close to a grand. I find most of the higher price kits are often nothing more than a name embossed on the same parts in the lesser priced kits. Has anyone had success with these ebay kits? Can you share if any firewall mods were needed. I don't need feedback on the pv valve. Just the over all kits. I would like to stay under 350 not including the hoses and fittings. Thanks for help

I used Hydratech hydro boost system. Not cheap but worked perfect.

Re: HydroBoost again
Try Summit Racing. Not always the cheapest. But fast shipping and you'll not beat their support or customer service. I bought a costly CCP kit and their customer service was great when I had an issue and didn't get any service from CCP. I think they were advertising another kit at the time. It was less expensive and the feedback from that company was great. But it hadn't been proven out yet. This was a couple years ago now. So the second one is probably available now.

Re: HydroBoost again
Used Hydratech. Quality part but three months to get. Bolted right on in my 71 C10.
Had a serpentine system from Concept One and had to change out the mini power steering pump and reservoir for a larger remote one. Huge improvement in braking power. |

Kind of thinking of going this route. I see zero reason to pay 6 or 7 bills for the lever mechanism to position the booster a bit higher if the smaller hyrdrobooster has room around other components and simply sits a bit lower using a basic steel plate. I think I will pay for an adjustable universal booster so I can use the MC I want. The PV valves all come from the same place so that's a non issue to get a PV2 disc/drum setup. |

Re: HydroBoost again
Any issue with the Master Cylinder and the ram on the Hydroboost? Not seeing much on the subject so I am guessing the .2" gap is close or at least shimable? 12 bucks for the plate. Man, hard to justify hunting in the scrap heap and cutting holes correctly. Not to mention Mr. Rattler in the scrap heap all summer.

Re: HydroBoost again
Got it. Since I need mc and PV2 I found this kit. Looks like it has has a lot of the mods I need and most of the parts and for not much more than the basic 4 parts. Booster, MC, PV2, and plate. Also the offset piece if needed. Looks like I'll need to thread the and maybe shorten.the rod. Paid bit of premium but it gave me all the options needed.

Re: HydroBoost again
I hunted down the Ebay add that oneshotkyle posted eBay item number:266625157009
I'm saving that as the space is pretty tight between my booster and the Cad 500 in my 71 and I sure like the hydoboost in my 77 C30. A friend of mine usually has a bunch of Astro vans in his wrecking yard so I might go that way.

Re: HydroBoost again
Mine came from an 08 or 09 silverado 2500HD. I used the captain fab bracket to mount it, with supply lines from a square body and the return lines from the 09. It uses the factory ‘72 K20 pump and master cylinder. No clearance issues anywhere on my setup.
