Two Bad Fenders to Make One Good One?

The original driver's side fender on my '68 fits like a glove! The problem is that the front is bashed in badly and the attempted repair looks like garbage. I attempted to use a heavy amount of fiberglass filler and I just cannot get the profile right on the front.

I have a repop fender and it fits like crap! I took some measurements and the welds to the inside frame are way off. The skin on the outside seems fine though. I am tempted to try cutting the front outer portion of the repop fender off and welding it on to the old one to make one perfect fender.

Should I try it?

All depends on how comfortable you are with cutting and welding I did a similar repair on a passenger fender . The OEM was really banged up so I cut the cup portion and the wheel well lip about half way . Took a lot of measuring and cutting and fitting but it tuned out well . What do you have to lose you don’t have a workable fender anyways so even if you don’t like the end result you not out anything . Last picture is letting it bake in the sun after I took it out of my spray booth

OEM drivers side is easier to find than passenger side fenders that’s why I ended up cutting the passenger side up .
