There is a member doing this.

Let me see if I can find the thread.

Re: 72 Steel bed to Wood ?

I've got a too banged around to use 68 long bed fleetside box on a trailer that has a wood bed that has/had a wood bed that is probably only good for parts for a conversion that I would let a member haul off if they needed it. It's sitting on a 70 frame made into a trailer that is the worse towing trailer I ever built.

Re: 72 Steel bed to Wood ?

If you have the Mar-K cross sills, you can install the bed with the bolt heads concealed. You have to rout a recess in the bottom of the boards for the bolt heads, though.

On the Mar-K cross sills there are square holes where the bed bolts go, to capture the square on the carriage bolt. So, you put the bolts in the cross sill and the wood on top. It's a very clean look.

Per the pic above I routed some recesses in the bottom of the bed wood.

You'll need to replace or modify the front bed panel. The ones that were used with the wood floor beds are slightly taller than the ones that were used with steel beds due to the extra thickness of the wood compared to steel.

Great info you just pointed out.

The Header panels are different.

P. S. Not to derail the thread.

I met a Guy from Alberta at C10 Nationals.

He had a Show Winning 67.

He gave me and my nephew and his friend this sticker.

Haha, that’s awesome. Reminds me of the license plate I saw on an old shoebox Ford lowrider: “Praise the Low’rd”
