1966 C10 Long to Short Frame... ready to start cutting
Hello,
After alot of research, looks like I'm ready to start cutting. But just in case, im hoping to get some confirmation if my setup looks good, I used pics and diagram from this site, but was for a 67-72 I believe, and this is a 66 c10. Picture below. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KeD...w?usp=drivesdk I'm either going to box in with 3/16 plate, or order summit frame stiffener set. Thoughts? Thank you for any feedback. |

You can box it, but you should for sure fish-plate the weld. You could even do both.

X2
Fish plate is all that’s necessary, but box it if you like.

Understood. That would simplify things. I will prep both options and bounce that off my welder.
Thank you both! |

Sounds great -keep us posted on the progress. I just finished shortening my ‘67 c10.
Would love to see the process on a 60-66.

I would mark your new locations for cab mounts before you cut it and lose your original positions as a reference.

For sure , I'll add pics as I go. Ty
My thought was to reference off the front cab mount flange... I've got the rear mount location now, so I can locate it back after welding?? For vertical, I'll take your suggestion and get that added now. Ty |

Re: 1966 C10 Long to Short Frame... ready to start cutting
There's no difference on a 63-66 frame vs a 67-72 frame as far as shortening is concerned.
I shortened a '68 lwb frame to use under my '64. I had to relocate the rear cab mounts; the radiator/core support mounts, & front frame ends (for the diff shaped earlier model bumper) because of the later frame but the shortening efforts/dimensions were no different.
