PPG paint
I know many paint companies have budget lines? Question is if a shop says they use PPG could it be a cheap line made by PPG?
Also.... (bonus question) what type of tape should one use to protect while putting on trim etc.

Re: PPG paint
It could be, but I would expect a quality/reputable PPG shop. That offers a warranty on their work. Most likely will be using PPG's Deltron or Global line. If the customer is really trying to cheap out. Or the project doesn't really warrant it. One of the cheaper PPG lines could be used. Like Omni or Shop Line. But, the customer should know up front, what they are getting.
A couple layers of automotive painters tape usually works good. If you're really "beating" on something. You can layer tougher/stronger items on top of that. |

Re: PPG paint
Tell the shop what paint you want. The good stuff is expensive
Tell the shop you want to see the actual cans of paint they're gonna use on your vehicle

Re: PPG paint
I use Omni Pro in my shop never have I used the shopline but I have been told by a guy who does it is well lets just say dont consider shopline. The omni Pro sprays out like the dbc line and you can even feel the difference between the regular omni and the pro in the can just by shaking it . Or at least I can there is that much difference. I have been using that line going on maybe 20 years? I lose track of time . Jim

Re: PPG paint
Some paint colors aren’t available in PPGs top lines I had to use Omni single stage for my 68 . I would check with them what paint they intend to use. I was very pleased with the Omni paint . I didn’t thin it as much as they recommended and I put clear in the last coat to get the metallic to flow out smoothly .
