Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
No way to lose on a piece like this. I wouldn't be able to buy the wood for $300 if I was to build one. I'm pleased. The wife will stuff it with quilts that she has made. That'll be two less white melamine cabinets in the family room. Those things are eyesores, to me.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I brought this seagull home for a friend, to install a new rod. The rod is assembled with barrel nuts in epoxy, and kep nuts to lock them in place. The rod is 12" long, and I need all but what screws into the barrel nuts. So for just in case, I secured those with pieces of plumbers tape and #10 screws. Then I decided to paint it.

That's Cool.
It reminds me of the one my Grandpa had above his garage. It was a Man sawing wood driven by windmill power.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
So true. But unless she wants those other cabinets standing in the middle of the room, they have to get gone. The only place left would be in front of the TV, and that's sure not happening! She has one bedroom (12' X 15') as her sewing room, and she has to walk sideways to get over to her desk or sewing machine. Crazy.

Even the paint I did buy was cheap, <$15 Amazon, hardware a couple bucks. Thought it might be cool to make some stuff? I don't have the tools for it - pretty fine stuff, 1/8" pieces. Perhaps my jigsaw for slots, it's better than I am.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I have a garage full of those eyesores! On one wall four are screwed together and have a lot of my wood working tools. Some have the doors removed so that I can get things out more easily, since there is so little room to move. Another wall has food and cooking implements, cleaning supplies, etc. Got 9 of those ugly buggers out there! Thanks for the complement on the wood working!

Two days ago I took my wife to Cripple Creek and Victor and we stopped to visit Rita the Rock Planter. Quite a sight to see.

It's told that this is the second in Colorado made by Artist Thomas Dambo. Here is a link to more info.

Took the Mustang vert for a cruise today. Lunch and a 50-60 mile cruise. Was mid to upper 70's I think for the last time this fall. Soy beans are out. They are working on the corn.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
This is more of a what did I do for the last three weeks not on my truck post.
In 10455 easy steps I went from photo one to photos two & three. And yes, it's as cattywompis as it looks. There is nothing square or parallel on it. The only part that is square and level is the foundation which the building doesn't fit it correctly. The back wall is about 1-1/2" too wide for the foundation. We think it was built somewhere else originally and moved to its present location.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Winter's on the way and will be here before I like so decided today to do some wood spitting for the fireplace. Haven't had to split any for last couple years as the wood shed was full to the hilt. Still have some left but depending on the winter may not last thru to spring. I do like my fireplace, recliner and a Crown and soda on a cold winter evening with a good John Wayne western.
So, started splitting wood I've had stashed and covered for the last year or so. After about an hour of splitting I was splitting a forked chunk just like I have done so many times and .....Bang! Sheared off all three bolts on one side holding the splitting head wedge to the rail or channel of the splitter. No damage other than still haven't found all of the sheared bolts. Must be in the pile somewhere, will find them when I get it movedand stacked into the wood shed maybe. Have another full tree that we had taken down two years ago to do. Cut to size, just need to split. Little bit nicer splitting in shirt sleeves and a cold one or two after the splitting is done than splitting in a heavy winter coat, wool shirt, skit cap, heavy gloves, etc. Changed all six 1/2'' x 3'' bolts as the ones that weren't broken, the head was stretched and twisted some. Lot of force there went the broken ones let loose. Put it all back together and split for another two hours, no problems. Then had to go pick up my grand daughters from school, Dad works night shift and Mom came home from work sick. Grandpa's retired, he can pick up the girls, LOL. Love'm, one nine, other is eleven.
