TH 700R4 ID Decoding
Hello from Germany,
I would like to convert my 66 C10 from a 3-speed manual transmission to an automatic transmission. I was offered a TH700 R4. But I would like to know which vehicle it comes from. There are lots of numbers on the large barcode sticker. In capital it says 3 AFM. I think because there are three letters, the number 3 means it was built in 1993. The M should stand for the TH700r4. But I can't find anything about the identifier AF. Can you help me with that? Greetings Nils |

Re: TH 700R4 ID Decoding
That's right at the end of the non-E 700R4s. It will have all the upgrades in it. Perhaps not the Vette servo, that depended on car/truck by that point IIRC. I'd still do a mild shift kit/filter. There are many many upgrades for the 700R4 if you want to make it stronger. But it will be fine behind that 283. It was factory install behind TBI 350s in that era.

That’ll make it easier to hook up the tv cable.
Info here on that. https://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/ |

3AFM is a 1993 from 5.7L "D"-Car (3.08 Axle) with Wiring Type 18.
The D platform/D-body, was used for Cadillac models, primarily the Fleetwood Series 75 and the Fleetwood Limousine. |

D body is longer wheelbase B. Fleetwood/Fleetwood Brougham (and the commercial chassis that limos and hearses were built from. Last year for the car 700R4s, next year they got LT1s/4L60E.
