1970 GMC Longbed driveshaft
I can’t sort out how to take the front half of my driveshaft out. The front half of the drive shaft with the carrier bearing has no room to move essentially trapping the driveshaft in place. Anyone have any insight on how this thing can be removed? Carrier bearing is too larger to fit through the cross member. I didn’t build this part of my truck it came to me this way from PO.

Re: 1970 GMC Longbed driveshaft
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe that is a factory carrier bearing. All the ones I've seen are mounted on the other side of the crossmember. You may have to unbolt the crossmember and push it back enough to get the driveshaft out.

Re: 1970 GMC Longbed driveshaft
with the carrier bearing unbolted you should be able to force the driveshaft back far enough to get the U-joint to clear the yoke on the transmission. You need to remove the U-joint caps for extra clearance.

Is your truck a C20/30?
