I thought I read that you needed this experience the way your going at this looks like you are getting what you asked for ...I wouldn't think of rebuilding a auto trans but now you got me starting to turn your way I have a motor and trans in waiting ...for rebuilding but need to finish my current build ...great progress on your project

Trust me, I'm tearing it down and replacing whatever is in the kit but I have a very rudimentary understanding of what the hades is going on in this thing! And I am getting experience! If all goes well I have another one to do for my Pontiac.

I do have a book! But I'm also taking lots of notes which means I'm going slower than a real mechanic would.

I like trying to rebuild things. I was going to rebuild the waterpump but the kit cost more than a new one.

Took the case to the carwash and sprayed the crap out of it. Looks pretty clean and feels good to the touch.

Re: Previous owner '68

Found a worn bearing surface on the output shaft ring gear. Not sure if a tranny guy would go ahead and use it, but I have another one coming in. Every thing else is looking good so far.

Re: Previous owner '68

Awesome posts! Never opened one up before and like yourself have a very basic understanding of how it all works. One of these days I'll tear open a TH350 and do this same thing.

I would've replaced that part as well. Might as well while you have it blown apart. Looking forward to seeing it go back together.

If you find one cheap enuff, or even free is better, then I would go for it. There are a couple of tools that help, I'll try to take a picture of them.

The book I have has a few weak areas, but I am also checking the web as I go. Here's a pretty good thread I found. https://nastyz28.com/threads/first-t...-wrong.325954/
