Montana registrations are scamming states.
After seeing so many Montana tags on high dollar vehicles I knew there had to be some shady stuff going on.

Re: Montana registrations are scamming states.
Gotta a friend who has property in Montana and has his 3 trucks registered there. Probably 10 years now running in and around Calif with no issues. Going to ask him how that is working out. I was part owner of a house in Oregon about 25-30 years ago and had my van registered there and I was driving it around here where I live. I got pulled over about 3 months into that deal. Turns out CHP had lic plate readers even back then and my van got flagged as a potential avoidance. I was going back and forth to the rental about twice a year.

Re: Montana registrations are scamming states.
In north carolina they charge property tax on the yearly registration.. I have a 2019 Ram dually that because of the weight and the taxes runs me $1000 a year to renew my registration... This montana thing almost sounds like a good idea... My other thought was to reregister it back where i came from and still own property which costs alot less (140 a year) and i still dont need inspection as it is a diesel. I have no issue paying my fair share until the taxation becomes theft

Re: Montana registrations are scamming states.
My take on the whole thing is this would be a small percentage problem if the tax dollars they collected were spent wisely and responsibly....but that ain't gonna happen.

Re: Montana registrations are scamming states.
That’s why I still live in New Hampshire no sales taxes,no income tax and my new truck was 110.00 to register, so I don’t blame people either to go to Montana
