Timing lights

I have used the Innova brand for years, but my last 2 just died from being looked at. Where before they worked if i ran them over.

This is the version I have used for 25 years more or less.

I like this style for the things I do.

Anyone have a Brand they recommend that won't die from sitting in a tool box. Safely wrapped in a towel?

While not nearly as fancy or new I still have my grandpa's Craftsman timing light, its gotta be at least 40 years old if not older. I've picked up a couple, one is a dial back version, just like it at swap meets for 5 or 10 bucks for spare leads/parts. It's been dropped by accident and it keeps going.

Back in the day, son, there used to be an iconic store that sold decent tools for the money with a lifetime warranty called Sears and Roebuck... I got me one of those timing light gizmos from there back around the time music was still good and people had better knowledge of morals, and because it was quality, i still got that antique to this day and it still works as the doggone day it was new

I bought most of my tools and other automotive stuff from that place back in them days too. Still have most of it including a timing light just like the one you have! My trusty 30+yo Sears battery charger gave up the ghost finally after all the abuse I dealt it over time. Sad that there's really no replacement of similar quality available today...certainly not at a decent price point.

I have the same timing light. It's a dial back light. I bought it from the local Sears catalog store we had in our town back around 1992. Still works just fine to this day. I've had to buy 2 different leads to it, as I've let people borrow it over the years and they had let the spark plug wire lead get too close to hot exhaust and melting it. No borrowing anymore. lol

I have a '70's/'80's vintage Snap On dial timing light. Works well!

I have that one and the later dial advance tach and dwell meter two .

I had a Craft Man dial back for 30 years. Never failed. Sold it a number of years ago because I don't have any hot rods with a dizzy any longer. All my current hot rods have LS swaps.
