WTB - 1967/68 non-custom choke knob with cable
Probably a long shot, but this week I'm liking my manual carb choke, but the choke knob has broken off the cable and I've been struggling to get them back together. If anyone has a non-custom knob with cable they no longer need so I can keep the stock look/function, I'd appreciate it. Engine is a 6 cylinder; I don't know if V-8 cables are substantially different.

Does the cable have the black center or stainless center knob?

Re: WTB - 1967/68 non-custom choke knob with cable
Can't help with the cable section but I have a standard black face choke knob with good internal threads (10-28 thread) , face is good with no cracks or chips. Let me know if have an interest in it. Good luck with your search for the cable.
As Mel from Classic Bowties pointed out, two totally different choke knobs for 67-68. The 67 knob is serrated on the outer edges where the 68 knob is smooth. Forgot to mention the one I have is a 68 style with the standard black face and smooth outer edge.

Re: WTB - 1967/68 non-custom choke knob with cable
67carry-all, we have the choke cable itself available in unused GM NOS in the box for $85., we also have some OE used choke cable setups in various lengths pulled/stored on the shelf. To check on availability, confirm/let us know the overall length of your bad cable and the year of standard/black knob that you are after, the 67 and 68 knobs are year specific and different from one another. Re: WTB - 1967/68 non-custom choke knob with cable
Thanks all for the replies. I have a '67 with the black center knob. Cable housing currently installed. I've attached a couple of pics of what I have which may help with what you all think I may need. The internal cable has broken off the end of the knob shaft, I can't figure out a way to reattach it. Would I need a replacement knob assembly with cable or ?? Thanks.

Measure from the base of the knob to the end of the wire. I guess you would have to measure the two pieces and add them together and let me know the total length. .

If you purchase just a new cable, you should be able to unscrew your existing knob from the remnants of your broken cable and thread the old knob onto the new cable.

Thanks, guys. LockDoc, from the base of the knob to the end of the wire comes in right at 5 feet.
Pj, thanks for the tip about the knob unscrewing - for some reason, I thought it was fused on in some way. Learn something new every day! |

Would you have a 5 ft used OEM cable available? As I've just learned, I can use my current knob to screw onto the intact cable assembly. Thanks. |
