The truck you have a pic of is a 64 to 66 short bed stepside, maybe a custom cab can't make out if chrome trim behind the door window. Looks like a wide set of rally wheels, and is lowered. Right now the 67 to 72 Chevy truck is hot. Twenty years ago it was the 54 to 58, some where in between it was the 60s truck. I'm just back from the Good Guys car show in Pleaston, CA lots of people and there was 60s short bed looked original asking price $3700. Availability depends on what your looking for and how much patience you have. I paid $300 for a 63 3/4 ton std cab, fleetside, with an engine dumped in the engine compartment, but little rust and one bad fender. We scrap cabs and doors on the west coast that they would die for on the east coast. Cost of frieght west coast to east coast kills any idea of shipping.

Smile re. prices

If you saw what we were prepared to work with you would have a fit. If i did go down this path all i would want was a complete resonably strait ok for rust truck preferably a stepside. Remember i would have to rebuild it to drive on the lefthand side plus it would not have any rego. so many of the things that bother you would not worry me. So what i they like to drive and own ? Ever get the feeling that you just started something thats not going to go away.

Rebuild for left side.

What do you mean you rebuild for left side. Move steering wheel to right side of truck?

Rego?

Exclamation re. left to right

You people drive on the wrong side of the road
If you stood in front of your truck your steering wheel is on the righthand side of the cab , my truck has the wheel on the lefthand side of the cab, a mirror image of your truck.
Rego. regostration, numberplate stuff.

First may be I should apologize for not taking you seriously, and I'll admit I'm still a bit skeptical.
YaYa I know some "proper" speaking folks seem to feel that the "proper" side of the road is the left side. We have postal clerks that drive the left side with right hand drive and don't seem to have a problem, but your saying that to "rego" the truck it has to be right drive. Pardon me please if my skeptism is coming through. Reworking the truck is not a problem. There were some design deficencies from the factory so the bottom fender corners, cab corners, and bottom of the doors may all need rework. We haven't even talked about getting to the dock and the cost of shipping it to Australia. You still want one of these trucks?
Rare to me is a 1938 BMW 328 Roadster, 1963 Studebaker Avanti R4, Nash Healy. 60s trucks are not rare, but they are not common either. The short bed does get you a little closer to "rare".Most of time when you see them 4sale it's $1k to 1.5k or better, if you look at my signature I didn't pay more than $500 for 3 of the 4 and that doesn't include the 63 and 69 I parted out. That's over the last 4 years. In the same time frame I've passed up 3 or 4 on Ebay and the west coast for less than $300, none of them were short beds, and I haven't seen any 60s lately on the west coast. Now on the East coast it's different and so is the condition of the vehicles. Is that closer to the end.

Question Gettin it from there to here

I actually deal with a few rodders and resto guys and they bring in stuff all the time, so thats something i could work on later. It cost about $2.500-$3.500 allup. A good 60`s truck would be impossible to get here the 75 c20 was hard enough. This liking for 60`s trucks stems from being bourne in 65 and seeing back in black on dragtrucks.com.
Lots of 50`s chev trucks coming to Western Australia at the moment but no 60`s stuff. If i move on this i will do it 2005 when the business is better established.(ceramic coatings).
Slammed 66 Great truck.

late model trucks

Yep. Not many though. My truck (75 c20) was sold as a right hand drive and was brought in by the holden motor co. and arfter that nothing came in officialy until early 90`s but they where suburbans. People do bring the pickups in ,and they want killer money for them (2000 model pickup $30,000-$75,000) but it depends on what you want.Ford still bring in the F 100-250 and sell plenty of them but i have noticed that they are not your current model, 3,4 years behind and they are made in Mexico and the Quality is rubbish

Well that answers several questions. The front cross member from a 68- early 80s would bolt under the 60s truck, but doesn't sound like you'd find one. When you do get done with your 60s truck sounds like you might get most of your money back. Best of luck with your project, let me kow if I can help on this side.

I have had a few of these trucks and I build them and do mods for people all the time . Let me know and I can keep an eye out for a suitable candidate, get it set up with modern suspension and have her sent over, mind you its alot tougher for me to find a cherry rust free candidate her in alberta but I have seen a few decent ones around.
