gutterman, I saw the auction yesterday and thought the same thing. No 2wd's were recorded being made in '69. If this is the one that wasn't recorded, it is worth more than parts...

CSI gurus

Alright guys. Those who saw the moose thru the windshield in general discussion and tried to critique what happened know who they are. This is next case, Look over pics real close. Is that a 70 only inner grill? Do I see hints of trailing arms on couple of the pics? Could it be a 70 model 2 wheeler. I know I had a 70 suburban with exact color, was this color available in 69. Sleuths get to the research!! Sure someone could email seller for pic of glove box sticker and vin tag.

Just looked again and vin show CE not KE. Is the "0" in vin indicate 70 model? Which digit in vin indicates yr?

I met a guy at the Daytona Turkey Run a couple of years ago that was selling a '69 2 wheel drive that he said was a proven 1969 model by the title and some other paper work he had. I didn't make him prove it. Anyway, I have heard the rumors that some 2 wheel drives were made in '69 but never were recorded as being made. I live in Charleston, SC which is about 2.5 hours from this one. I may have to look at it. Man, I don't need another project. But.....own two 2 wheel drives......how cool would that be??

I sent the guy an email. I live in Maryland, but my girlfriend's parents live about 45 minutes away. I am going to try and get it...I will let you know any information I get.

Is there anything I should look for?

5TH digit in the vin indicates the year - making this (vin CE180S169197) one a '70.

1967-1972 VIN Number Codes
Example: CE149J 100001
Chassis Designation (1st digit)
* C= 4x2
* K= 4x4
Engine Deisgnation (2nd digit)
* E = V-8 Gas
* S = Six Cylinder Gas
GVW Range (3rd Digit)
* 1 = 1/2 Ton
* 2 = 3/4 Ton
* 3 = 1 Ton
Model Code (4th Digit)
* 4 = Pickup with Cab and Bed
Model Year (5th Digit)
* 7 = 1967
* 8 = 1968
* 9 = 1969
* 0 = 1970
* 1 = 1971
* 2 = 1972
Assembly Plant
* A = Atlanta
* B = Baltimore
* F = Flint
* J = Janesville
* N = Norwood
* P = Pontiac
* S = St. Louis
* T = Tarrytown
* Z = Fremont
* 1 = Oshawa
Vehicle Serial Number

I don't see a moose in those pictures. My theory as to why this is has to do with the 6 foot chain link fencing :p

I have a titled '69 2wd with trailing arms (the cab was moved to a '70 frame). But there were not any 69 2wd from the factory that were sold. I remember somewhere reading that they were working on the 2wd in 69 but didn't sell any to the public until the 70 model year came out...

K5hart, I don't have 2 2wd blazers, but I have 1 2wd blazer (69) and 1 2wd jimmy (70)!
