Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
I just picked this up few days ago. I traded a 98 civic for it..the guy was in a tuff spot and needed a daily driver for his family that had 4 doors.
1981 350/350, dropped, runs good but needs tlc. I plan to finish up the body work, paint, exhaust, tires, and interior. |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
1980 stepside; straight six with added dual exhaust; three on the tree converted to four on the floor; 3.42 posi rear axle. Home made hidden hitch, spare tire mounted in the bed.
I ordered this truck and caught it in the repair lot at the Flint Assembly (I just missed watching it get built). It was my first new vehicle. I sold it in about 1986 when I got my first company vehicle. K

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
'87 fleetside; LB4 V6 with TBI, MY6 A833 overdrive manual trans, 3.73 posi axle.
I ordered this truck and followed it down the assembly line at Flint Assembly, and drove it off the line and to the shipping building myself. I got this in September of 1986 when I lost my first company vehicle. Owned it until 1991 when I got my second company vehicle, and sold it to my in-laws. Got it back in 2008 when my F-i-L passed. It was a daily driver until 2016, for 30 years and 200k miles. K

That is a good looking truck Alex41, kind of general Lee colored. Nice, any more details on the build.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
Thanks boss. I'm not really digging the color, it's called chevy corral red (looks like hugger orange in person). I bought it before Christmas from a college kid who bought it at 15. It sports a mildly cammed 350/350 with a new 12 bolt 3.40 gear (long story) and a new set of 20x8 20x10 TT2's. I believe it has 2" lowering spindles with shackles and hangers out back on top of me removing a leaf from the spring pack.
I plan on dropping it at least another 2" all around soon and maybe doing a little engine and trans swap. |

Zuke, love the pics but beware we are having non stop rain here in Phoenix and rain here means snow for the east. Also what's up with the exhaust are you melting the snow as you go?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II
Thanks guys. Yes, it's a phantom grille. It was on there when I bought it, really not my favorite thing but like you said, it looks good on there so it will suffice till I can order some OE headlight bezels and cut this grille down to fit inside them.
BTW...I did purchase the LS2 from the GTO. It came with a 4L65E behind it not a T56. Should make for an easier install. |
