Welcome back man! It's been lonely here without ya. Glad to see you're back and making progress on both your dually and the Camaro. Absolutely *****in'.

Thanks Sam! I looked back and saw that you are still driving the green beast daily, and also saw that you had got yourself a deuce. The red and white 2 tone will look great. I love Chevy II's and I can't wait to see your progress on it.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

Thanks! I sure am still driving that green meanie. She's gettin' tired, but still keeps goin'.

And my little II should be fun when all is said and done. As soon as all the rust is fixed it'll be simple. Haha, where have we heard that before...

I'll be sure to post an update soon in my build in Alternate Tinkerings, I've been at it again. Thanks for keepin' tabs on me.

My Camaro has a few small holes in the trunkpan and a little rust in the lower quarters, and I've been belly-aching about that! I still have to commend you guys up North, because I would run in fear of that kind of rust, but you seem to be cutting it out and making it better that ever.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

Good to see you back on the board.

Are you using the stock fuel system? If not, what size fuel lines did you change over to?

That is one sweet setup!

Thanks! I'm using a sending unit from a '69 Big block truck with a 3/8" fuel line, and I am going to run a 1/4" back to the tank.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

Sorry to ask a question that I know has already been asked, but...

Did you use small block chevy harmonic balance bolts and washers with your big block towers? If not, what did you use?

No, I bought some Grade 8 3/8" bolts and used (2) 1.5" diameter 1/8" thick washers per each mount. A SBC harmonic balancer washer would probably work great though.

I think they were 1 1/4" long, IIRC. I wanted as much thread holding as possible.

Well, I got the fuel lines hooked up and I got the accelerator pedal and cable installed. (Putter's accelerator rod to accelerator cable pedal swap FAQ thread was a life saver here! Big thanks!) I snapped a few shots of the cable. I wish I could find a cable with a preformed 90 in it down to the IP, but this is the way the early factory diesel trucks were, so I guess it will work. I may look into a Lokar braided cable eventually. They are more flexible, and it would look better.

PS: I have got to get a new camera! I do';t know what has happened to thing!!

I got a call from uncle with some great news. He found me a nice pair of 67 stepside fenders. The final piece to the puzzle! I'm going to pick them up ASAP.

It reminds me of the fuzzy shots used for women in the original Star Trek. I have no idea how you'd get rid of it though.

That engine is looking great.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

what fuel tank are you using....I am putting a 6.2 in my 71 burb, and I am trying to figure the fuel system out. Can I use my existing blazer/burb style tank, and if so, what sending unit would I use to accommodate a return fuel line?

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

Another question....the BBC motor mounts you used, are they available at the parts house? I see some have called them towers....are they the same thing. I am thinking you mean the motor mounts that mount on the front 2 sides of the block. I guess I am full of dumb questions....but i come by it honestly. thanks, and btw, your build keeps me inspired.

Thanks!

I'm using the original in-cab tank with a sending unit from a '71 - '72 model truck that has the return line. I'm assuming that's all you'd need for your Suburban as well.

On the mounts, I'm talking about the towers that mount to the frame. You can use SBC motor mounts, but you have to get BBC towers.

thanks for the feedback....I have been looking for that sending unit 71-72 with a return line for a blazer/suburban and none have the extra outlet for return line. Am I looking for the wrong thing?

Engine sounds solid! Now where are the burnout videos? Have you picked up the fenders yet?

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
