Re: Goodguys 2015 Giveaway C10 by Scott's Hotrods

lolife99,

Why not "even consider a C10 Truck….." that is a better question.
Why should the specs be published……its none of your business or mine.
There are a lot of ways to skin a cat in determining the "silly total height loaded in the trailer rule."
I think your post is a bit negative in general. I realize everyone has an opinion and my opinion is your opinions are off base from what I read compared to the truck that is being built via Scott's Hotrods 'N Customs.
Do you owe a hotrod shop? If so, I doubt the Goodguys would have picked you to build a truck with your questionable thought process and design abilities.
You are correct about one thing….."for people like me,… that obviously don't understand a lot. Ha." It's one thing to question the build or the Goodguys intentions but your negative tone and lack of the facts is questionable.

Ha,... you obviously don't know me.
I think you took my remarks WAY too seriously.
I'm a huge C10 fan and a big supporter of Goodguys and this board for about 12 years.
I'm no hot rod shop owner/builder.

My post was about Goodguys wanting a C10 truck with a static suspension and being no taller than 56".
If you saw the original post with the Goodguys organization looking for talented artists to submit concept drawings to a contest,... to pick a winner for their C10 giveaway truck.
This post was presented here on this board,... by member/designer Carter Hickman.
None of the drawings submitted fit a low profile version of these trucks and the one I posted above was the winner.

I normally try to help here on the board.
Sorry my opinion offended you.

I'll also apologize to Justin for hijacking his thread.
I was no way bashing his work,... just wonder why the end results were going in a different direction that the drawing.

No, lolife99, I don't know you.
No sir, I read your words as written.
If you are such a huge C10 fan why are you questioning why the GG's would pick a C10 truck for their giveaway? Makes no sense. Seems counter productive. You should be singing from the heavens since your such a big supporter of the C10.
Number of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years on this board means nothing…..it your words as represented with what you type says it all….not the amount of time you have been on this board.
You did not offend me. I just questioned your opinions and your questions as written.
Hijacking his thread…what does that mean?
You were not bashing Justin's work but you are "not sure why Goodguys would even consider a C10 Truck,... for a giveaway vehicle?" Your words seems counterintuitive.

You are missing my point.
Building a static dropped/driveable C10 that is only 56" tall is the "reason" why I "question" Goodguys pick of a C10 giveaway vehicle.
I DO love the idea that the guys at Scotts are making it happen.
It just took a chop top, no rockers and raised wheel openings with a 4" ride height.
I'm sure it will be killer.
I hi-jacked Justins thread by having the only negative post.

Jeez guys, give it a rest. Didn't your momma ever tell you that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all? If you don't like it, don't try to win it. The craftsmanship on this truck is incredible, I'm sure by the time it's done and painted all of you are going to be trying to raise your wheelwells (and doing a much worse job of it, too).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Goodguys 2015 Giveaway C10 by Scott's Hotrods

Hey guys just wanted to jump in here on this great build.

Goodguys always wants to change things up as to our Giveaway vehicles, so with the popularity of trucks at our events we figured it would be a great time to build one and give it away. You can become a member of Goodguys for your chance to win this cool truck. www.good-guys.com

There was a few items that Justin needed to follow on this build and one was a height of 60" max and that we would be AutoCrossing this truck at our events. I also am going to be driving this truck on the tour we do from Pleasanton CA to Fort Worth TX the end of September. You can find info on this Cruise on our web site also if you would like to be part of it.

Now for getting it to the height we requested Justin wanted to chop the top very little as we wanted to keep the look as close to the rendition as possible. He also needed to shorten the rockers to make the frame and body sides the same so there would be no problem with high centering of the truck. The final thing was raising the wheel wells as the tires would be so far covered it would not look right, so he raised them to make it more correct to follow the rendition.

I hope everyone is enjoying the fact that Goodguys is not only about classic cars and welcomes trucks to the events as well and that is one reason we build this.

The build is over the top, Scotts Hot Rod is doing a great job and we are glad to of partnered with them on this build.

The truck will debut at our Columbus OH event July 11-13, 2014

I hope this helps with any questions about this build

Back on track....

Starting to look more like a truck now. I really like the headlight choice.

Hey wait a minute, when did this truck turn into a 4X4 LOL. I read that it will be debuting at Columbus this year. That is my goal to debut mine also. I recently signed up for my Goodguys membership and will be booking my trip soon. Nothing like having a deadline to get my butt in motion. Hope to see this truck there.

Those darn transfer cases are so tough to tuck up high enough to clear the ground on lowered trucks LOL..
