Before my Father in law passed away he wanted a built in desk and bookshelves on a 10' wall in his study. He asked if I could build it for him. I told him I had never built anything that big and he was a very picky man when it came to things looking right and done right. I gave it shot and low and behold it came out pretty good and I saved him about $6,000. He only spent $1,000. So you never know until you try.

By the way, cool story on the built-in for your father- in-law. U r right. Just cause you never done something does not mean you can't, just that you haven't done it yet.

What do you guys think about this seat?

My co-worker was stripping a late model Lincoln LS and had this back seat up for grabs for free. Not sure yet weather or not I will be able to use it but it's kinda got some nice lines. I will have to get some seat glides, and build a frame for it if I use it, but I really dig that fold away/down arm rest with cup holders.
We'll see if it stays, but gotta try.

Seat looks great. I like that their is no headrests blocking the back window.

I agree. I will have to raise it up a bit and build some type of a frame for it to sit on and attach, I also like that the headrest is low profile and built in.

Not exactly sure it can be used, but definitely maybe I spent a total of two minutes sitting it in place to take a picture. left it there for now. I will check it out in more detail this coming weekend.

I just read through the whole build and have come to 2 conclusions.

1: you have some great skills and waaaaay more ambition than I do.

2: this is the coolest build i have seen yet! i love the shortbed dually!!

1. As to skills,,,,IDK,,,, I lean more towards "not afraid to tackle anything, and definitely not lazy". Way to stubborn (dumb) to EVER throw in the towel.
2. I "REALLY APPRECIATE ANOTHER CONVERT TO THE SHORTBED DUALLY" THING. Many many times I have questioned my own sanity on embarking on this journey. So, either I am correct in believing this can be cool, or "there's more than one of us who have some serious flaws in our thinking.

Anyhow, appreciate the feedback.
Hopefully somebody else will think it's cool enough when it's done to build another one like it in the future. Hopefully even better. Maybe they will say, "well that was ok, but on mine I'm gonna do this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"

I would love to build one in the future. But my twist would either be slight altitude adjustment and super singles ( i have always wanted to build a 40s 1 1/2 ton like that ) or go 4x4 with slight lift

I do know what you mean. I am also not sure if Homer will not get a little bit of altitude adjustment before it's all done and over with. We'll see.
For now, just trying to keep moving forward one bite at a time.

Got the bed mounted yesterday, you would not have thought it was that hard to do, but when there is nothing there it takes time.
I had to lift the bed (my camper jacks) off about 5 times pull the truck forward, work, push back underneath bed, try again. Over, Over, you get the picture.

Picked up a fleetside bumper yesterday to start my journey towards building/having a rear bumper. I figure "you gotta start somewhere". I am gonna look at it for a bit before I decide whether or not to remove a sliver (about 4 to 5 inches) off either side and then put the end cap back on.

What do you guys think?

Looks fine as is and it gives you a place to mount rear facing spot for hooking trailers etc..

Yeah, I hear you Chris. I will definitely have to think on it for a while. Surprised it looks even half way close. It's off a fleetside. Figured for $20 I would whittle away at it. Sometimes I have to have something to measure against and then I will know what I want by looking at what I want to go away.
