Sounds good my brother has a monte carlo drag car that I've been helping him with. It started out as a front wheel drive and now it has a full frame under it with a mustang 2 frontend 4 link and a big block. Might holla at you when we get to the sheet metal part.

i bought a universal kit from suicide doors and just made everything else. Seems to me that these swaps have endless ways of doing them. Good luck with yours.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Did you use the factory front leaf spring hanger for your 4 link? , and did you move it at all? I've been looking at 4 links for a long time and really like the way you did yours

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

rollinrooster;
Just read your post on your project.
Question:
Where did you find the bear claw latches n which type did you get?
I have the latches out of a chevy van, just looks like they are too big to work.

Have a post on here under T-P Auto- starting my build.

Thank you for any info you may want to share.
I find alot of good info on my build from reading other project post.

Thank You.
Tim

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Read through your thread, great work! Any progress since May? Love the fat boy too, and what year is the monte drag car? My DD is an 06 SS. Recently picked up a 48 with an s10 chassis, needs some work yet. Have a few questions for you if you have the time.

What kit did you use for your drop spindles and rotors on the front? Also, know the backspacing of your wheels? I'm looking at running some 20x8.5 with 5.229'' backspacing in the front, looking at yours I would think they should fit no problem, maybe small spacers?
Also what steering linkage parts did you purchase? looks really clean. In the area, do the headers provide more clearance than stock manifolds would on the passenger side?
Last what is rear backspacing on wheels and axle length? Would like to run a 9'' as well for the durability, but not sure on the length, looking at 20x10 wheels with 6.225'' back spacing in the rear.

Know this is a lot of questions and hope I didn't miss anything that is already answered, but really like the way you have done all of these things, and just hoping to avoid any mistakes or problems along my way.
Thanks!

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Thanks. I always said that I would eventually paint it green and we got so far into it that there wasn't much patina left so only thing left to do was start spraying.

BlueJeep - glad you didn't paint your motor green... just kidding looks pretty good. I will say that in the end our trucks will look totally different.
