Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Got some plumbing done over the weekend. I'll get most of the front sheetmetal on next weekend, then back to wiring.

Won't your tire hit the filters on a hard turn?

Well, that answers that...
I guess you have plenty of clearance...
My 19.5s on my crew do not have that kind of clearance

They're stored in the shop with the radial drag slicks still mounted.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Did a little restoration to the headlamp buckets and they came back from powder coating yesterday, so I was able to assemble the grille for a test fit.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Thanks! It's actually a 1963 grille. It took a lot of hammer and dolly work to get it somewhat straight. These things took a beating back in the day.

Progress has slowed a bit to help friends prep for the California Hot Rod Reunion, but was able to finish up the front American Rebel Sprint wheels.

Thanks! The air tanks are in the bed (one being a re-purposed nitrous tank), and the compressor is under the rear driver side of the bed.

Fabricated and mocked up my little hideaway nitrous arm and purge switch panel in the ashtray.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

The two least favorite parts of a hot rod build - AC hoses and brake lines - has had me procrastinating since returning from vacation a few weeks ago. Starting to map out hose routing and will be making some AC hoses here shortly.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

It's cool that you are running A/C...
No pun intended..
I dont have any creature comforts planned for my trucks like that, but starting to have second thoughts.
So, what compressor setup are you running? Doesn't look factory Pontiac.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Thanks! Yep, request from the wife after I decided on the ignition and fabricated the motor plate mount...ugh. The drive system ended up being way more complicated than expected. Because of the crank trigger and the front motor plate spacing in accommodating the serpentine drive, I had to fabricate all sorts of new spacers and adapters, etc. It's a Vintage Air kit.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

I have a friend who opted to go with genuine Pontiac power.
He wants A/C and we're seeking original V-belt A/C parts.
My prostreet/protouring truck will be a minimalist truck having only power steering.
Being from the Phoenix area, heat isn't much of an issue to me... :-)

Yep, if I was going to add AC from the get-go, I would've done a regular V-belt drive system rather than the serpentine drive that I had traded for and thought it would make my life easier. LOL

Stainless brake lines are done. Now to take it apart and bench bleed the MC.
