Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
I am thinking that i will pass on the wheelie bars......just another thing to hit/drag/rip off when i am driving around on the street....Guess to be sure I will see how it launches and then go backwards from there....never say never I guess but no plans for bars at the moment

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
Well it's been a busy couple of weeks for me....My newest addition that just got painted blue that i liked so much.....well i sold it to someone would just had to have it.....now it looks like i will be doing some modifications to it for him.....anyhow...
Thanks for all the feedback on the prostreet project....the floor is finished now...the firewall is finished now.....the seats are mounted for fit....the box is back on it...fuel cell is almost mounted....batteries are almost mounted....and it looks like a truck now. I would like to see it rolling into the body shop by the middle of next week...thinking the factory color the cab was in a gloss but frankly i have no freaking idea yet. Soon as i get a few mins i will load some pictures and post a update...

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
wutnxt,
I love to pop on the computer with my coffee in the morning and search for the fat tired truck builds here in the group. It gives my lazy a$$ inspiration to get out there and work on mine. How about throwing a brother a bone and post some progress pics???? So I can go

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
Okay Okay.....pictures i get it ...
So we have the box back on again with the new rear cage.....the fuel cell goes into the middle. The batteries go on either side of the fuel cell....The rear tubs are out at the moment just to make it easier to work around. We changed up the rear cage so the cab didn't get cut at all and just the window gets cut instead....it's a bit cleaner looking i think and will be a better seal in the end.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
The cage is all finished now.....
Decided to not go with the swinging side door bars....didn't want them bashing into the doors....

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
The cage has been my issue.
I just haven't figured out how to re-enforce the frame without having the cage visible and hacking up the back of the cab. I don't want to see the cage outside the truck.

Well if it's not going to the track it would make it alot easier, if it's going to go to the track and going to run a pass....It gets way more complicated. I decided if i was going to make it possible to run that fast I might as well make it legal for the track.....in the event that oneday I want to sell it to someone who might want to race it. If i was starting the build all over, not so sure i would have done that much cage work and I would have made it more for the street.

The frame has an Art Morrison back half unit in it with a narrowed 9". I was originally going to do a extended cab/custom 5' bed job but I found a flawless 63 donor cab and couldn't bring myself to cut it. Now I have a virgin short wheel base frame I am looking at and rethinking the build. Problem is, I have 20" wide M/T street radials and I can only get 16" tires in using a stock frame. Then again I could re-enforce the frame and use no cage at all but what would be the point of using the 600+ hp motor at that point?

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street
Buddy, this truck keeps getting better and better! I for one can tell you how those dang harnesses suck goat balls to be in while on the street! I like your idea. In my vette I originally had a retractable seat belt set up in it plus the harness. But, I took it out when I was cutting items to put it on a diet. The blower looks bad azz! Heck, the whole package is off the hook! I really like the look of your cage too man!
