Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Spent the day blocking out the firewall and brushing on the seam sealer.

The firewall sans thirteen of its original holes and with a really light coat of primer.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

During my lunch break I finished installing the lowering blocks. Also replaced two control arm studs on driver side. I was surprised how easy it was. A couple hits with the sledge hammer and they were out. Waiting to get out of work so that i can test drive.

wheels (plus 2 extra front tires) $85 = good ol' CL
adapters $125

change of look = priceless

was running 15" buick gs rally wheels for past year; was ready for something different;

vette wheels will prob go black once i need tires which won't be too long since my locker loves eating up those wide rear tires...

thanks for looking,

Boy those wheels and stance looks great!!

Towing a fellow members truck to my garage to yank out his 283 and powerglide trans, his has cracked heads and a lot 9 rework to be done. Had to pull into a parking lot to let his breaks cool down and the bike belongs to a buddy I work with on my ship.

you can really tell the size difference, the black one looks like a small child next to the grown up green one, but still two great trucks

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Installed a new Champion aluminum radiator. My truck was modified with a 1957 283 and the radiator was also from a 57 thats why it appears a little different than the original style. Easy install I just had to modify the lower support brackets to accept the 3" tank.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Started to weld up the new (under bed) gas tank this weekend.
Bent the stainless steel sheets at work.
Drilled the hole for the old tank sender, the plan is to reuse it from old tank.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I have really good compression in all cylinders but 3 & 5 so I tore my motor apart ( while in the truck) and pulled the 2 bad pistons. The motor is really clean and looks new so I'm gonna get new pistons and rings and hopefully be back on the road.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Funny thing is is that black 65 is heavily optioned truck. Just finished yanking the trans and engine out today. I'll let ILH1992 describe it. It's his truck and he's down the road from my place. He's got some good plans for it. Keep it stock because it's been in Everett , WA it's entire life.

FINALLY we got my engine an tranny yanked outta that thing! I've had the truck since October but due to my ankle surgery I couldn't do any big major work at all to the old thing until I could walk again an yesterday was the day we finally could get going on it. Couldn't have done it with out Dillon's help thanks brother. Now we need to get the dual carbs setup on yours.

Anyways my truck is a '65 c10. Custom cab with original 283 with powerglide an 12bolt rear. She's original minus the fact its black now but at one point was originally 2tone grey an white. Has the big back window, original radio, deluxe steering wheel an dealer installed AC, power steering an lots other stuff I can't remember. Its been in this area or really Everett, Wa its whole life.

Apparently the previous owner who I bought it from remembers seeing this EXACT truck rolling around Everett back in 1975-1976 when he was in high school an I guess knew the guy who owned it back then. So that's saying something its been here since day one.

Plans now are to swap in a warmed over 350 with a TH350 trans. Getting rid of the powerglide an don't know what to do with it. Gonna rebuild the original 283 later so. Just fix the rust in the kick panels an some in the floor an re-do the seam sealer caulking in the roof ASAP to prevent rust.

Bought a set of 6 lug rally wheels for our truck ($80). Going to get them sand blasted and then paint them same color as truck. Going to store the old wheels and hub caps.

Did a stepped rear frame splice for a short bed conversion with a 3" raised floor.
