What might have helped here would have been to weld a flat piece of metal where this little bracket went, that way one could fill the holes with weld. I still haven't welded the holes up!

Ok, that may explain my need to move the front track so far forward.
I drilled the 4 spot welds, cut the slot and relocated the track in the slot. I just never removed the bracket from the bottom of the rear track, just spot welded it back to the door in the new position. I then had to move the bottom of the new front track forward about 1-1/2" to get the window to go down all the way. It works okay, just left me a mess of holes to weld up and do body work on.
I bet if I'd cut that bracket, I could have kept the front track at the first place I drilled for it.
I'll get this figured out...just in time to never do it again. Thanks for your help.

Thats what i did to the driver side, works good but dont weld it back until you fit the window in and it working and lining up propely. Welded mine too early and it off a bit now the truck is painted i have to live with it. On the pass side i didn't drill the spot weld instead i cut the track off that bracket from the inside with a die grinder and a small cutting wheel then used whats left of the bracket to line up the track work really good and kept the window in line .

Well, did the driver's side as the video suggests and removed the bracket. Got it first try! Used Denee's idea of welding a flat plate on the end of the track and it works great now. Used paint sticks and urethane to space and secure the run channel around the window opening. When that urethane hardens, I'll use a bit more to secure the bottom half of the run channel in the new front track. Still kept the clip in the rear one, so it's good back there.
All in all the mod isn't that hard to do if you pay attention to the videos the first few times you watch 'em. Wouldn't be afraid to do it again, now, but still, I'm too attached to my wind wings to ever do it to my personal trucks.

man!!!! thanks everyone for all the input on how this should be done.. I have glued my vents shut because of wind noise,, I will be doing this one piece window treatment to my truck soon! again thank you for the videos!! I have watched them several times and will do so a few more!!

I see the title of this thread is 55-57 one piece windows, but it will work on a 59 too right?? I hope so, I already have the glass being cut and tempered. Just weird it isn't 55-59. Thought I would double check before tearing into it. Thanks!

Hi Aaron from Oregon! A belated welcome to you! You're right, I think it should be 55-59, at least for the cab and doors I suppose. This is a testy part of your project, but I think it's a neat modification!

Does the glass template that was posted fit the door good? Is it a good seal with little wind noise? I had the big one printed off at office max yesterday ($18) and took it to the glass place. Really looking forward to this mod as it really cleans up the look and mine were shot at over $270 each.

BTW, thank you so much to the guys that put all of the work into this post. These posts are the biggest beauty of the internet. I appreciate it!

I didn't use the template that was posted. I bought my entire window set from Brothers Trucks when it was on sale a few years ago. I think you should be OK as I've never read anyone having any problems. On mine the seal is great and wind noise minimal.

The pic below is a mock up window to use instead of the glass for "roughing it in". Made of about the same thickness as the glass. Just need to put a couple holes in it for "handles" or something to grab on to. This is not my idea~ I take no credit for it

I used the template for my modifications, but left the front track loose so I could adjust if the windows were off a little. Then I bought a set of Brothers windows from a member. I compared the Brothers to the template and the only difference is minor at the back bottom corner (lower right in Denees photo), the angle of the short section is slightly different, like an 1/8" or so. That section is below the sill so sealing in the channel will not be an issue.

Just did this conversion on a '59 I am getting ready to flip. Came out nice! Makes them look like they are moving just sitting there the way the window leans forward.

where is everyone getting track seals and scrapers? and does anyone regret this mod? I'm at the point of no return... LOL I will have working A/C , and I cant stand driving anything I own with the windows down because of wind noise. not that I would never. I really like the look of one piece and I'm ready to make the leap....

Hi KingMike! I bought my one piece windows from Brothers, so the wipers came and tracks came with the kit. Still modifications have to be made which you may have read about? I never had the priveledge of riding with the original wings. However my past 57 Chevy Bel-air had them, and I must admit it was nice being able to direct air from outside in. However, I have no regrets as the single glass looks nice and works well!

Hows everybody doing? I just bought a 1955 chevy truck however the top was chopped and came with no windows. Im interested in doing this however I do not have the vent window components in order to re use the track. Anybody know where I can get a track to use?
