Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
When I cleaned up the coil I found the original sticker under the bracket to be in good shape. I cleaned and painted around the sticker and lifted the coil out of the bracket an inch so that it was visible

Too bad, I thought it was original just because of the 1/8 of an inch of grease on it

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
Hi. Im new to this and I purchased a 1961 Chevy pickup. I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if the truck is either a C10 or an Apache? I looked on the actual title and I did a VIN search and it only states 1961 Chevy PU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
there is no denying that's a beautiful truck. sorry im just a purist with some things no offense. your truck is a 65 and the cluster is out of a 66. just curious why you chose to do it that way

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
At the time I had numerous clusters and picked the nicest bezel, it was silver so I ended up going with it because I think it looks better.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
I have a question concerning the deluxe wheel center. My holes on the back are stripped and when I turn the wheel, it "clicks". One screw is larger than the other so I would like to carefully re-tap the holes but not sure how to go about it or what size of tap to use. Can someone give me some advice please?

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
I had to send my repop heater core out and get the tank swapped. The lines coming out were at wrong angle and to short. On the positive side it now has a GM part# on the core.

Do you have a source for the tubing braces. I need a set.

Had a little bit of a setback, didn't realize that someone back in the day decided to screw the voltage reg to the inner fender. I ended up welding up the holes and putting it back where it belongs.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
What is the Shape of the Leaf Springs Ends
Shape of leaf spring ends, photos below are of 1964 K10 built in St Louis, rear springs. Were the leaf spring ends cut square or were they rounded/tapered some. They could have been both ways depending on supplier and/or where the truck was made. The last photo shows other rear spring parts. Note: The bottom helper spring does not look original, in photos 1 and 2 below. Will post photos of front springs next, they are not as rounded, however, not cut square either. Front Spring End Shape '64 K10
Below are photos of front spring end shape, they are cut straight at ends and have a straight taper on the sides length wise at the spring end. This makes the end of the spring narrower. |

Don't know about the gray but dark fawn dash is correct for 66.
