Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC
Awesome thread, it has been a real help to me along with a couple others. I'm getting ready to do a 51 swap. I have the 4wd rear end in and the rear end lowered 3 inches and the front lowered 2. Just got my welder back from police impound or I would have been a little further along. Your truck and thread have been a real inspiration!

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC
Just got my welder back from police impound
I once had a smart azz city cop impound my 42 willys jeep. He pulled me over to "look it over" he wouldnt believe that the riveted on vin tag was the way it was back then. it took me 2 weeks to find where they took it.the only way I found it was the highway patrol called to lell me that they had varified the numbers. when I went to the tow company it wasnt in the yard. After i threatened them with a theaft carge. Avery red faced mechanic led me to a a garage in back where somone had been working on it ![]() ![]() |

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC
Just got my issue of Classic Trucks (February 2013 issue) today with your truck on the cover. Showed it to my son (reaper71) and he said I just check out your build thread. Spent the last few hours going thru it. Super nice work and a great ride....Jim

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC
Wow first time seeing this thread, I absolutely love this truck and enjoyed looking thru the build process. If I remember correctly we probably snapped 20 or so pictures of this truck at world of wheels... dont think you were around cause theres no pics of the girls with us posing on it.
![]() Also where at around Da' Burgh are you? I love slowly learning just how many of these trucks there around this area, hope to have mine out and about some day! Posted via Mobile Device

Sorry missed your reply. I'm out in Westmoreland county by Murrysville. I'd love to check out your trucks in person some day if possible! And taking the truck down to world of wheels this year?

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC
Just a quick note. I have the Classic Trucks with your 54 on the cover and my daughter noted that this was the only car magazine she liked. She loves the patina and the flatnose look of the 54. I do too by the way! It is something special. Hope to see it in person. Any chance you would come to Street Rod nats in Louisville?
