Thanks Joe, I remember those are available. I'll have to use them on my bed, but 198 only has a couple areas of concern.

Straightened the upper rail



Here's a little tip. If you mud up to a joint put some tape over the joint and right on the edge to keep it out of the crack.



Wiped the whole thing



Sanded with air tools



Then hand blocked with 80



Blocked with 180 tonight.

*Since the truck is at Dad's, he has a 40 year fab/welder coming over to look at it. They want to replace the entire cab floor. Alan what are your thoughts on that?

My caliber Check out MSGross build on your side of the board. He has done a complete floor. It really depends on how bad your floors are. Got any pics posted of the rust yet?

You should see the CHOP/BUTCHER shops i go to. I have seen it all. I work the "west end", bankhead hwy, downtown, college park and forest park. Macco does a better job than some of these people i have seen. Now if i had some dough to throw i would take it up your way or to Classic Collision. But...

Removed the wheel tubs. Does anyone know how good the repops are at fitting? I'm wondering if it would be more economical to get a new one. Once I removed the tubs and looked at the bottom of the flanges on the RT it was in worse shape than I had thought. If I do repair them does anyone know if there is a tool to make the square holes?

Removed undercoating in both tubs.



198 wanted to eliminate the chains. I split it in 4 places peeled the flange out and welded in a piece of flat metal to reform the flange then welded the big hole up. Both sides are done.





Working the inside of the LT bedside.



Spent more time in this area than I had planned it would take. The worm holes are from PO and the metal was stretch so the metal was tin canning. Got it stiffened back up. Then welded the holes shut. The lower corner was also pulled away from the bedside.





The right bedside is rougher thean the LT. Sanded almost all of the old primer off cause it had surface rust popping up all over. This is where it is at now.

Same concept Alan, you lay a sheet over the wet paint and wiggle your fingers around and remove. Bake then clear.

How did you shrink the stretched areas?
There were several others dents around that area. I kept picking at them trying to get the contour back and the tension came back. I didn't have to use heat/quinch method this time. It was just a combination of a bunch of dents close to each other. I can shrink metal, but not as good as I want to be. You should have seen the first time I tried to do it solo.

I talked to Ron Covell at the Fathers Day LA Roadster Show about shrinking. He said he doesn't even quench it. He lets it cool natural. I haven't tried it yet. Ron is one of the best metal guys around. He's the one that has all the videos, and class rooms seminars.
