I just saw this one, very cool. I think it's my favorite of all your projects. I plan to be in Richmond the next 2 weekends if you need any misc parts. I've been lazy and haven't got rid of any 67 stuff yet.

Did you get a chance to check the ratio on that rear if you still have it?

Still working on pics...but progress today consisted of: removing the clutch pedals, column, and intermediate shaft. Also got the gas tank re-installed and connected other than sending unit wire. Still have to bolt it down and put my NOS filler neck grommet on I emptied the tank being used (from my 70) and no sediment or rust inside

Got the repairs skim coated and will sand and paint tomorrow. Found a rattle can of gloss red paint on my shelf. Test sprayed a spot behind where the bed will be and sanded down witbh 2000 wet/dry (dry) and was pleasantly surprised by the closeness of the color match. Will help in areas I have to cut out sheetmetal...especially the cab corner and lower door on pass side.

Drilled out and collapsed another intermediate shaft I had to use with the van tilt.
Sprayed my new rag joint and the int. shaft and need to remember to paint one of my ps boxes tomorrow... also painted thepower brake booster brackets. Booster has been painted

Good, they worked I used the smallest hole saw I had, then used my copper spoon to fill the hole the center bit makes, put the patch in my vice and ground down to size. Patches came out very well considering I still am using flux core at home.

First pic shows the driver's rocker opened up and rust converter sprayed liberally all inside

Then the second pic is a light skim coat on the driver' s upper channel patch.

Here's a picture of the gas tank in place with the fuel line connected (I blew air through the lines first and they were surprisingly clean).

I wouldn't have painted the tank but it had some overspray on it and since my bench tilts forward...I wanted it to look good back there

Thanks, I have a few more of the panels....fit isn't very good but I only use them sparingly and save the leftovers for small patches...

Especially with this being a patina truck I'm trying to cut out as little as possible...

Out to work on it some more....
On the way home from Church I bought the rest of the fluids needed to fire up the engine..... that stuff adds up quick....priced it at auto zone and bought for around 20 cheaper at walmart...

Thank you...a few things took longer than the last time I did them and had to repaint my steering wheel due to humidity and now I'm completely stripping it...

Got the wiring harness in....forgot my 70 was floor shift so have to figure out the nss wiring. No cuts or splices on it though as I remembered and as mentioned...everything worked on my last truck using this harness...

Got the brake rod hooked up to the pedal....forgot I had to drop the column for that...doing things a little out of order as I rush...had to take the ebrake

Got the driver's rocker repaired (patch cut and welded) and skim coat on it. Also re-skim coated the rear patch a final time.

Got my gmc pauls weatherstrip installed on the passenger side...very nice! They do need extra force to shut the door but not absolutely slamming the door.

Painted the frame of my bench seat so it'll have time to dry before it gets re-covered

And installed my painted jack and the jack sticker...

Sorry, keep forgetting to take pictures....the ones above show the patch panel I cut down for the rocker and the wheel with horn cap...you can see the paint looks weird...it started cracking

I looked and couldnt find any paint specialy formulated for steering wheels, im wondering if its just a matter of getting the surface rough enough so it isnt slicker than snot so the paint will bond to it, im guessing its a super tight pore plastic so the paint is having trouble adhering to it, but there has to be a product or combination of prep and product that will make it so that primer will stick.

It's actually just impatience by me....it was looking pretty good but I sprayed one more coat today (not waiting the 24hrs) and then an engine clear coat with a light rain outside (100% humidity) and you're not supposed to use if over 60%...it cracked right up....

Been there, done that. Humidy may not have even been a factor. If you are using rustoleum and don't follow the directions for recoat time that is what it does. Just strip it and start over. One of the reasons I rarely use rustoleum anymore. That and the insanely long dry time.

yeah....planning to shoot as much as I can on my main project (proj #1) at the body shop in the booth....but for a driveway/budget build everything is turning out nice so far with the rustoleum...and the duplicolor engine system has turned out a very nice finish so far....be interested to see how it holds up since I did the proper prep, primer, paint, and clear....supposed to be heat, oil, and chemical resistant....we will see just how much resistance it has
