Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
i picked up the valve cover bolts today, should have some pics by the weekend!
i picked up some 1" hex head bolts from ace hardware with locking washers. its super hard trying to tighten them up, there is no room for a socket, unless i scratched up all the powdercoat on the side. i had to tighten very slowly with a wrench...kinda sucks but better than the long wing studs. im not really into those...

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
got the carb on with new gasket and air cleaner spacer to fit over the dizzy, valve covers on with new gaskets, oil pan back on with 1 piece reusable gasket , new alternator on with chrome pulley and fan, and got my exhaust manifolds back today and got one side on. other side will not fit completely flush because of the dipstick tube. any ways around this?

looking good. can you either bend or use a different style dipstick? THere are the Lokar style flexible ones...

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
Kev,
This is the second time I've seen this and I am surprised no one else saw it. Is the metal rubbing on the bag? There was another shot from a little different angle a few pages back and it sure looks like it is. Isn't that bad? Mike

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
im gonna have to look into those flexible ones..good thinking!
in gonna have to check the bag again but im pretty sure its not touching. plus i still have to put the spacer plate on the driver side (for the panhard bar bracket), this shouldnt deflate it as much.. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
lol...its not touching! heres proof..and this is laid out.
you guys were scaring me about that so i had to double check.. anyways, had to get back out there and get working on the body again as my primer should be here next week. i ordered a full gallon (2 sprayable) of black epoxy primer and catalyst from eastwood i figured i would go ahead and take care the last of the rust, the driver rocker panel. again, im following Rokcrln's how to, makes it so much easier! today, i got just as far as removing the part of the rocker thats rusted, and also pulled out the entire seats and carpet to check the floor. it was killing me not knowing what was under there after fixing what i fixed already. and actually, its not bad at all, but i had to know whats behind it! before..

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
and cut out...the holes you see at the top is from me with the grinder and screwdriver trying to get the spot welds off (same mistake i made on the other side lol)
and after looking over the entire floor, this is pretty much all i have found in rust, other than a few scaling. i believe i will fix this before i weld on the rocker. the only problem is i dont have a patch for it, but i do have a scrap hood i have been holding onto just for this reason. so i will have to make one. the only thing i need to figure out is what to do at the bottom that meets the floor. this area is where the 4th door would be, so its going to be tricky. good thing is carpet will be covering it, so im not too conerned on the final look but i would like it to look decent!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
ya i was surprised! after looking at the passenger rocker i figured there would be something serious under that ugly carpet. i will try and have the rusted part of the floor cut out so i can get something solid there..i would like to have the rocker and floor done by the beginning of next weekend so i can get back on the outside getting some body work done.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
cut out the rust today with the little time i had, and its gonna be really tricky to fix this. its a weird spot, the floor ties in here, so i cut out about 90% of it, removed a small brace that goes underneath the floor, and cut a little under the a pillar and bottom of the inside door. also found a couple very small pinhole rust spots in the floor towards the middle, but that should weld up just fine. i should have it all cut out by tomorrow or wednesday depending on my schedule, then i can start welding in the new pieces. heres a few pics, nothing exciting...

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
lol, ima get it to somerville if i have drag the damn thing there!
i got the floor welded up and seam sealed..just need to snap a few pics. i should have the driver rocker welded up this week. had a strange thing happen today, kinda funny now but it sure wasnt when it happened. i was trimming a little of the rocker panel, and as i was cutting on the bottom of it, for some reason the grinder got snagged and shot out of my hand. well, my face was the closest thing to it. it smacked me in the face, breaking my front tooth, busting my lip, and leaving a cut on my chin. talk about a close call, good thing for the guard on the grinder! this by far tops the stupidest accident ive done working on this thing, even more than catching my own pants on fire while welding up my floor last year! anywho, should get some more progress this week, ill post pics when i do.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
no offense we chat on c10 forum but to be honest with you i do not agree with the panhard stock arms you should just 4 link it and quit wasting your time i did the same thing i though it would be cheaper and easier to keep the trailing arms and panhard but all i did was have a headache every turn i took and secondly dont those bags look dry rotted get some new ones that isnt safe

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
no offense taken! i do plan on 4 linking it in the future, along with a front z. i havent done it now because the rear will sit lower than the front, which i do not want. what problems did you have with panhard bar and stock arms? ive seen a lot of guys on here with that setup but never really asked about how it rides or handles.
the bags are actually brand new technically, never seen the road. i put them in about 10 months ago, never driven on. i air them up and down about every week or 2. they should be fine.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
lol, i look back and laugh now so its all good. def gonna be more safe though, never can be too careful!
actually took apart my front clip yesterday, and started removing some things from the firewall. i will sand it down this week (if its stops raining) and get it ready for primer. i think i have decided just to go ahead and basically strip the truck down, inside and out (including windows), primer inside and out, paint the engine bay and inside the doorjambs, fenders, and hood. then bolt everything up, line it up where it needs to be, straighten out the body, and hopefully get some paint on it! im really focused on getting the jambs sprayed and the underside of the fenders and hood first. then i can take my time doing the body work and get it in primer and paint..but no real rush as long as i can get some primer on this thing. may even take a week off from work to really get some work done on it.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!
lol...na, i actually didnt snap any pics of the ass kickin to my face lol
it was too embarassing.. i do have some progress though! i finished up seam sealing the welds on the floor, will take a pic once i sand down the entire floor but thats at a later date. over the weekend i did some major sanding! sanded down the entire driver side quater past the doors, all the way around to the tail light area, and even removed the glass to get inside the window channel. im about 98% done sanding, then its on to a few coats of epoxy then body work. even grinding down some of the welds i had welded on last year..
