Nice! I need a water jet or plasma table. Problem is, Obama isn't helping this SOB out.

Re: 72 k20 project
Dang, the new photobucket makes big pictures and is a PITA...
this is the tank mounting. i have to finish welding and clean all the loose ends up, but i had to come inside and get something warm to drink, so i figured now would be a good time to add some pictures |

Re: 72 k20 project
i welded the box and figured it wouldnt hurt to tack it in and take a peek
you can put either in with the other already there. these arent the exact batteries i plan on using, but they are very close in size. Ryan |

Re: 72 k20 project
Awesome job on the strap and mounting it! I especially like the pivot you integrated into the mount on the bottom side of the gooseneck cross member. Great work!

Re: 72 k20 project
i didnt do much today, but i did get a few things done between a trip to the gym, cooking a turkey and a blueberry pie and of course eating... i also did a little diagnostics on the jeep since it was probably 60+ outside and sunny!
the finished rear of the straps. when i pull the tank to do the filler i will paint them all up i also finally finished the upper I/C mounts. not real fancy, but i am super happy with how this all came out. it looks pretty clean and correct, and the rad and I/C are really well mounted. very rigid |

Re: 72 k20 project
Thank you sirs, thank you.
i still have to box the other side of that mount in, but that wont happen till i pull the I/C out. maybe tomorrow. i bought a 6" compressed air DA today, so hopefully i can start sanding paint today or tomorrow. i have about a million things to do still, but i need to start thinking about getting the body fixed up so i can do all the other detail stuff too... thinking about ordering the repair panels for the cab. on another note, i tinkered with the Jeep enough today to convince it to start and drag itself off the trailer! i think i need a new ECM for it, but now that it is home and out of the way i can dink with it at my leisure. now i can load up some of the various piles of stuff that have built up as cast offs from this build. i also stopped by the JY today and i can pick up a safari hydroboost pretty cheap to see how that will fit. ill need to go grab that sucker next weekend when i am not driving the wife's nice car... |

Re: 72 k20 project
Thanks!
i finished the I/C mount i capped those support tubes for the core support. this will all be covered by a cowl piece to keep the air flowing the correct direction, but it was ugly and bothered me cleaned the I/C and painted it while it was out. and i made a bunch of dust. i ordered some disks saturday but i found a few WAY overpriced ones in town to use untill i get the roll i had a spurt of garage cleaning and made use of the Jeep door storage area since the doors live on the jeep all winter. Very nice! Isn't it crazy how expensive body supplies are these days? It's crazy!

Trading is where it's at as long as the other guy does as nice of work or better than you. Body guys can "hide" their cut corners the best. Haha

Re: 72 k20 project
i took a few minutes/hours and cleaned all the scale, loose paint and dirt off the core support. i shot a good coat of primer on it and painted it. this part doesn't qualify as bodywork to me so it was a spray paint special. i almost send it to the powdercoater. then i decided that was probably overkill, and i may still have some odds and ends to weld on further down the road.
i also went to the JY and grabbed a hydroboost from a safari van. 1994ish. anyhow, from what i can tell it is the same length as the one from the K30 that i used in my jeep. there may have been a difference in the MC pilot bore, and i'm almost certain the push rod length is different. anyhow, the safari MC is a weirdo looking two reservoir thing that is made to accommodate the steep slant of the hood. i poked around and found a 94 K3500 GMC has a 1.25 MC bore and matches the safari booster in pilot and rod length. i assume it is the same booster that the hydroboost OBS trucks use. i ran into town and grabbed one earlier. this is seen with my hack job quicky bracket just to get an idea for mounting. i am going to draw one later that i can cut at work and add some dimension to it for stiffness. misses the AFC with plenty of room, but i think i may ditch that anyhow, so there will bee tons of room. but i missed using the stock intake by this much. literally it may be all of 1/4 to long. i may search out some other MCs. i think there may be a van version that is really stumpy. if i could use off the shelf parts for the intake that might be cool, even if i don't. |

Re: 72 k20 project
couldn't you notch the intake? I know you have the fab skills, so i was wondering if you had thought about modifying it.
