Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Thanks for lookin'! Been getting stuff done a bit at a time, nothing pic worthy. Got gas door fixed and a nut plate built for it, bunch of ancillary electrical, installed 3rd brake light tonight, Kid got 95% of the wetsand/polish splooge off it, etc. Cowl, tailgate, and gas door and the tailgate hardware have been painted and polished. Blood sugar we think, has kinda gone nutty in the last week, been hard to get it in gear! Have quite a bit of prep done, hoping to make strides this weekend. Thanks again!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Well, kind of a slow night tonight, We've been hitting it pretty hard. Drained the rad and replaced the water neck gasket again. Fixed the drain plug gasket while I was at it. Got glass in today, looks good. Got appraised today by a long time reputable guy, 1's across the board. Got a good number for the ins. co. Boppa got a referral from the app guy and got on the Chrome insurance. Seems like it'll be a good fit. Took it up and put gas in it tonight, runs like crap. I dunno. Seems like 7 cylinders, bad gas, and a vacuum leak all at the same time. The trans still isn't right, but it'll adjust, I think. The efans are coming on at 160 and staying on.? who knows. Anyway, here's some pics-

The Kid wanted to help, so he put on the bowtie and lenses.

Pics of the de facto maiden voyage- I had to get gas before it ran out! Gas gause still doesn't work, but I only put 3ish gallons in. I may not have lifted the float.

Looks nice! Really dig the new wheels too. Get any of the tune issues resolved? What's left?

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Sorry its been a minute since a proper update. Been busy, but you almost can't tell. We've slammed into the tedious part of the build, but we're seeing daylight. Got all the wiring in for the headlight upgrade kit, all the corner lights are in, whole truck got powerwashed, seat mounts are drilled, power seat is mounted, we have a better solution for the windshield washer, wiring runs are secure, some of the grounds are run, and the cowl area is built and awaiting assembly. Had back to school and neighbor kid stuff tonight, but Boppa went yardin' today and got some good scores. He also got stung by wasps twice on the same elbow, which he wasn't amused by. I offered to pee on his elbow to help the pain, he wasn't amused by that either. Neighbor Jay is back from Florida Vacation all stoked to see progress, so maybe we'll get ta crackin later in the week and it'll look like we're doing some thing... Maybe. JL, thanks for the big props here and in other places, but I'm just a frimp in his garage, that wants it to be right for his dad. Believe me, there's been anxiety and frustration on this deal. Thanks though, it's inspiring. (Oprah moment!) ANNNNNNYway, here's the pics-

The Kid looking at the seats, hoping the mounting solution goes well.

Uncle Matt and I's trick mount for the four relays, two circuit breakers and distribution block we're gonna need. Amazing Fab skillz. (We twisted a piece of 1/8 x 3 flat bar aluminum using a crack in the sidewalk and a big azz pipe wrench, then cut it to fit between the upper and lower rails of the core support and bolted it in with screws from a shed I built 15 years ago. Super trick guys, we are.)

WHATEVER! You've got some skills man and should pat yourself on the back. The truck looks awesome, can't wait for the video and can't wait for the LBT build. I'm thinking Boppa, The Kid and a tape measure in front of the house. Too bad they don't have smellavision sorted out yet!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Busy day, but one of the good ones! Hood is on, front metal is fit, grille is built and on, E-fans are wired in, loomed, harnessed and functional, cab grounds are in, Front stereo speaker pod is built and painted, cab side engine harness got a MAJOR clean up, tried to get the temp gauge to work, no bueno. Gah.. Then it got exciting. Went to adjust the headlights and had the motor idling to make sure the fans were working. Kept smelling gas in the dark. Hadn't been smelling gas before while working on it all day. Got a light and looked and gas was SPRAYING ALL OVER THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR! Boppa had installed a fuel regulator and inline filter when we had a Holley on it, and we kept it when we put an Edelbrock on. The hose into the regulator had split right below the clamp and was just a- sprayin'! Thank God the fans hadn't come on yet. Shut it off and cleaned up a bit of plumbing and got rid of the regulator. Oddly, it runs better now. Just seems a lot smoother. Who Knows. Anyway, More work tomorrow, Hopefully big progress on the door front.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Sunday update- Well, had kind of a good but not real productive day. Pulled the glass out of the old cab and realized we only had a few more things to pull. So we got them pulled and ran the old cab over to Neighbor Jay's dad's scrap pile. Yaay, clean side yard! Empty trailer! Now the list- glass is cleaned and prepped, seal is installed, glass guy is coming out this week, have to repaint slider frame. Front speakers are installed, antenna mount has been sorted, grille is in, bumper is on, (What a PITA! Frame horns are a mess! Thank god we bought 71 bumper brackets, they saved the day. If you ever have to hang one, get the right end brackets, bolt the center parts on hard to the bumper and loose to the frame, tighten up the end brackets so you're good and shim the center to get it right. Oy Vey.) Anyway, it looks like a truck now! Just have to get over the fear and build the doors, finish lining the bed, adjust the trans and do the interior. Here's some pics-
