Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

tried to sell as a complete 1966 GMC truck or as parts and had no luck
soooooo.... now I am swapping all the 3/4 ton suspension with the new wheels and tires and the new front disc brakes over to shortbed chassis and cutting bed down to a short bed..
Anybody else think this is as crazy as my wife does? haha

Very nice hotrod66! What size wheels and tires do you have on the truck in the second picture?

FYI, the standard wheel on your 3/4 ton was the one piece 17.5", the multipiece wheels were the heavy duty option. Judging by the spare, it came with 15" 3 piece wheels originally. If your interested in preserving the "factory look", optional 19.5" wheels are the hot ticket. IMO, 80's wheels and hubcaps have a nasty habit of killing the factory look.

thats okay its just a work truck altho i would like to have all the hub caps and the correct wheels. out of all the old junkyards i go to there are none out there. i dont want to sink a lot of money in to it so 16's are fine by me there cheep and readily available. i have a 66 burb,66 short fleet i need to finish among other trucks that need the money.

Yeah, the later 16" wheels are hard to beat for practicality.

I think they would look more "right" with the gold and black anodizing (?) on the hubcaps removed, too; I'm going to try it in a day or two and see what it looks like (I might also paint the bowtie or the circle around it red).

How's the rear tire clearance with the 265/75r16's?

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

I like this thread guys, still having technical difficulties with posting pics. I've installed photo bucket app, & tried snap bucket too. I've tried the paperclip icon and it still tells me no file chosen. How the heck do I post a pic? My C20 is my daily driving carpenter rig, it ain't much but it does get a lot of attention on the job sites.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Thanks for sending the link. I'll be saving that one for sure. I'm hoping to find a way to use a donor vehicle to keep the cost down. Looking at various blogs, early 70's - 3/4 T - 2 wheel drive donors should work. I haven't found anyone who has actually done it.

What's included in the kit? Is it used? What is the price?

Wheels:
What size are they? What do they look like? What is the price?

Thanks

How to make a Chevy even more American...

Park it in front of the American flag that used to fly above Chapman Chevy in Phoenix. (Makes the truck look a little like a matchbox.)

Hey, Sodly, bidders showed some love for this one, but reserve was not met. There is a following for the more beefier version.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Chevy-K...p2047675.l2557

If its 5/6 lug, is it still a 3/4 ton???
Still, its a nice, patriotic pickup!

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?

Here is mine when I first got it. Since then I have replaced the hood with one that is the same color as the truck. 64 C20 with a crate 350 in it and posi trac. Is a camper special or custom camper however you want to classify it. Need to put the custom sail panels back on. Bought it without a grille or bumper from the original owners family. But he had another truck he was working on and put the painted grille and bumper on and took the chrome. Ill get to that eventually haha
