Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

well it's good and bad, the pistons are all back in for the 3rd time minus one and the ring is cheap, also I got my headers in, rear brake kit(minus wheel cylinders), porterbuilt firewall kit my piston ring compressor is still under warranty(the cause of the broken ring and my paranoid self triple checking), the electrician is coming over tomorrow night so I may have my mig welder setup working by mid friday if the bottle issue is resolved(trying to speed up the credit app) and the rain has slowed so it could be a flurry of updates over the next few days if I get this mig figured out quick haha

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

more progress, issues with my intake now though, seems like I may have a bad set of heads, shoulda known, the $500 I saved on pro comps would bit me in the end guess my 383 short block will be getting a set of darts

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

oil pan and timing cover on last night, installed the guide plates and rocker studs but changed my mind on the pro crap products so they will be replaced tomorrow with ARP, the thicker gaskets seemed to correct the intake issue, hoping I get it in the truck tomorrow evening without anymore hold ups

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

you bet, thanks, will be nice to get onto bodywork, if everything works out I'm going to run the exhaust to start it without melting paint, hard to look at that thing and not start it to break in the cam and set the timing etc

You've come a long way. But the time is worth it.
Keep up the great work

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

Thanks, I'm about to go back to work full time so it still could be on the road by next summer if all works out. Haven't even been in the garage for a few days, nice weather for wakeboarding and a 2day tattoo convention had me preoccupied but should be back at it tomorrow after some meetings. Shoot any paint yet?

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

Stripping old undercoating is tedious crappy work, sandblasting in GP is ridiculous right now, backlogged til early July and my A.D.D. won't let me wait til then and the cab really isn't in bad shape so I am at it with grinding/stripping/and wire wheels

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

well it is but it isn't, the tranny is just temporary for mock up, headers won't work without a real restrictive bend off the collectors so they'll be replaced pre start up and as always, I was shipped wrong parts so I'm at a stand still there and my electrician has been so swamped he hasn't had a chance to get the welder in yet, gives me a chance to clean the garage out though The holes in the frame could allow me to run these headers by moving everything back, but I will know when I mock up the driveshaft tomorrow, my teardown pics look to have everything where it is now, the monte carlo/chevelle style shorty headers look like the right fit for my dilemma if not and I should be able to sell these and break even up here so not to worried
