Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

Man I love your truck.
After alot of going back and forth as to taking the lift out of my truck, seeing your truck has helped my decide that the lift stays, but the tires and rims are going to change. I have a set of 98 GM 8 bolts and I'm looking for a set of 255/85's to finish the look off.

Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

Just read thru your build...really Great work....makes we wanna go out and find a square body truck again! I like the fact that you did a thorough job on your drum brakes instead of going to disc. Also on your front lockouts you can take those Spicer inserts out and replace them with the Ford inserts. GM actually used that exact same red color hub dial in 1970 on K-20 Suburbans.

Great looking truck. Nice job rebuilding all the axels and ball joints. Looks like a time consuming task.

Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

I have read this thread countless times now and it's a great inspiration. I bought a 3/4 to salvage parts from but now that I see all the work you did here and how good it looks I'm thinking I should just save the truck instead. Keep up the great work.

Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

Hey guys, thank you so much for all the kind words. I've been pretty busy for the last 10 months or so (new baby was born), so I haven't done much else to the truck. However, I have been driving it and getting used to it. I have a lot of pics to post, and I will get to it eventually.

Re: 1973 K20 Build Thread

Just read through the whole thread, and you are doing everything to the "T" of what i already had planned for my truck. I am deployed now so mine will have to wait, but i have the 4" lift and lots of others with more coming waiting for me when i get home, which wont be till october so living in alaska, the build probably wont begin till the following may, but we shall see. I too love the tall skinny look and am going for the same look. Love the detail you put into everything and the do it yourself mentality. Cant wait to see more of the build!

not to hijack your thread. but i've found that putting your studs in the freezer for 5mins makes it easier to install in your hubs, works for me everytime.
