Re: Blazer SPID thread?
It's neat not only for the unlabeled codes or the random codes, but also for the BX2 and the A50 which I think should technically be covered by the Z84.
Edit---also by the book, I think all CSTs should have come with a spare tire cover. Double edit--another one I missed...how about the CB8 and Z58

Re: Blazer SPID thread?
Man that truck had everything. Except had z84 package and ordered black vinyl seats. Should be highlander with that. Some of the blanks I'm wondering about though.

Nothing sinister or really unusual actually. Go back to posts 219-222 for a similar St. Louis example. Its really just a case of too much information common during SPID format changes. Being the 563rd truck off of the 72 Flint line I am surprised its even that good. There were a lot of issues getting the correct RPO suffix codes during the change over from letters to numbers for the 72 MY. It was what it codes. K5 Hugger Orange with Black CST trim and a White top. BTW Those RM1 codes with the blank descriptions are H78-15/B On-Off Road Bias Belted tires. CSTs ordered with a hard top included a spare tire cover. So most but not all CSTs had tire covers as shipped.

Re: Blazer SPID thread?
Quote:
"New Removable Top Assembly (RPO CC3) 1972 Blazer A new (simplified construction) top is being offered to supplement the currently available (RPO CB8) top for Blazer models. The new top (RPO CC3) is a single skin design with three exposed interior roof rib reinforcements running from side to side, whereas the RPO CB8 top is a double skin design with inner roof panel lines running front to rear. Part numbers for the two tops are as follows: RPO---Part No.--Color CB8--6262051---Black -------6262052--White CC3--6271845---Black -------6271846--White Mounting of the new top differs from the earlier style in that attachment to the box is accomplished through floating anchors contained in the box sides (Fig.1). The top is then bolted from above making trim panel removal unnecessary. New parts contained in the RPO CC3 top are: * Side door glass weatherstrip and retainer (providing an adjustable weatherstrip feature). * Thinner (1/8 inch) side glass and weatherstrip. * Top to box weatherstrip. * Seal and metal retainer around lift gate hinges. * Top to box side molding and chrome plated hold-down bolts. The lift gate and attaching parts, header weatherstrio, and header attachments are common to both tops." Unfortunately unless you have a build (broadcast) sheet or one of the atypical SPID as mention in earlier posting you will not see the CB8 OR CC3 codes. Generally they are found only on the build (broadcast) sheet. There they indicate the conversion of the vehicle to a removable hard top. Where the generally seen SPID codes Z58 (White) and Z59 (Black) really only indicate the color and confirm a factory hardtop installation.

[QUOTE=SS Tim;7354312]To clear things up this is from GM dated January, 1972

In the photos below I drew black annotation marks to call out, or confirm if these are the roof rib reinforcements running side to side? We were discussing these and neither of us could determine if this was factory or if this was a repair that happened at some point in time. Thanks! Mike This is the driver front side. They have the same matching lines on the other side as well. Passenger backside

Re: Blazer SPID thread?
Pretty sure the roof ribs are up Top and not on the sides. It gives the top the strength it needs to support its own weight and not sag.

Re: Blazer SPID thread?
Those trucks were loaded about s much as can be possible. My dads jimmy had the camper mirrors stock I believe as well. Wish it would have lasted long enough to be my first truck. Mom wrecked it one winter and sold the jimmy as a parts truck. I was a sad little boy to se it go. That's why I bought my blazer. Wanted those memories back.

Re: Blazer SPID thread?
Nice - thanks for posting these. Gary by two tone do you mean Highlander plaid? Can't recall seeing another OEM style seat set up close to two tone for utility or sport buckets.
