Hey Sarge - The sensor is threaded in so you will need an open ended wrench. If it's too difficult I can use the link that 1985-GMC provided to order a new one. Your call sir.

Thanks!

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Just spent almost 12 hours on my truck today doing little piddly stuff that isn't pic worthy. Got the fuel pump plumbed up, did some electrical connections, fixed a problem with my passenger side exhaust manifold not lining up right, installed a rear frame crossmember, abandoned my tilt column and put back in the original one (4 hour long story), tried to take the bed off my spare frame to put it on Cletus, but I think I need someone to be up in the bed pushing down on the carriage bolts while I am turning the nuts. They weren't really cooperating. I'm very tired.

Thanks for the kind words Dennis. With the level of detail you have gone to on your build I'm sure you know better than anyone how the piddly stuff wears on you.

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Okay guys tomorrow should be a big day. Here are the plans for my date with Cletus:

1. Install radiator -DONE
2. Install accelerator linkage - DONE
3. Install all vacuum lines (for some reason this one makes me very nervous) - DONE.
4. Finish E-Brake cables - DONE
5. Install driver fender well and hydraulic flow valve (plow) assembly which bolts to fender well. - DONE
6. Install fuel tank selector switch - DONE
7. Install new spark plug wires - DONE
8. Complete final engine electrical connections - DONE
9. Test fire engine - DONE
10. Install truck bed - DONE
11. Fill Transfer Case w/ fluid - DONE.

After all this (should be a big day) the truck should be looking good. My next move will be to grab the doors and hood from the painter (they are done) and get the front sheet metal hung. After that I will install my new custom "Stitch made" interior and the front and rear window. WHOO HOOOO!! The end is in sight!

Welcome to the board! Thanks for your compliments. The Delaware cab still needed some rust repair, but the bed was perfect. No where near what a Central NY body would have looked like after 24 years in our severe salt!

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Nothing pic worthy at the moment. Most of the stuff is little piddly stuff. This time next week I should have all the sheet metal bolted on so that will make for some nice pics! - Then on to the interior work! Thanks for your compliments on the color. I've wanted one that color for years!

Okie dokie Sarge. I get your point. Here are some pics for you.

Here I've installed the inner fender wells, turn signal housings, tranny cooler, and cut the hole for the fuel tank selector switch. Pardon the dust on the paint. It makes the new paint job look cruddy, but I know she'll clean up purdy!

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

And some more....

I need several of these plastic clips that are used to mount the headlights. Anyone know where I can buy these?

In the 3rd pic down I can't remember for the life of me where the 2 fat vacuum hoses attach to?? Anyone who can enlighten me? The one is coming from the brake booster and the other from the back of the carb - through the throttle linkage then out to the lower hose in the pic? My brain is too fried on vacuum hoses at this point to figure it out!

Thanks Dennis! That figures! I never thought that I may have an extra hose there. I guess that can happen when you disassemble 3 trucks in 6 months and have parts galore in the garage!

Any auto parts store should have those headlight adjusters and they will come with the screw part too.
