No problem with that to me. Greed isn’t the problem. If we actually had a free market. Competition would bring the prices down. Government regulation is our problem.

gov regulation is not really the problem, we are.
as my oil executive client told me, were petro junkies and they have us hooked thru the bag and they know it. and we are petro junkies- no ands, if's or butts. we will pay to fill our trucks at whatever price and then grumble about it, but still fill 'em.
our taxes and regs are fairly consistant, a tax raise does not go on our fuel without the gov informing us well ahead of time yet the price of fuel "mysteriously" goes up every weekend or stat holidays.
i'm sure everyone is aware of the incredible profits the oil companies are making right now, and i'm all for free market and competition, but the only competition i really see is how much more the oil companies can get out of their customers than the real gas wars of the '60's and '70's
like really, just how much profit do you really need when people are having a hard time filling up their vehicle or heating their house? not to mention the cascade effect on groceries and just about anything shipped to your house or a store.

What choice do we have ? Either we fill our trucks ,walk or buy electric . I’m retired so I use very little fuel on a weekly basis my sons both work about 5 miles from home as do their wife’s . My SIL about 25 my daughter on the other hand drives about 80 miles a day but she gets gas and mileage expenses every month

Gas went up 15 cents in a week here .

Well spring break week is no doubt the reason for this recent spike in prices the same as around any holiday where the public is likely to be traveling.
Ours just jumped from $2.89 to $3.05.
News stations in Arkansas are warning folks to top off their tanks before the big solar eclipse gets here. Arkansas being in the best viewing area they are predicting lots of folks coming for the event and hotel rooms and gas becoming possibly in short supply. So you know prices will soar at that time too.

i just went to the store for a couple things and looked at gas prices at 2 different stations- over 5 bucks for the cheap $hit

I paid 3.49 for premium and bought 5 gallons. I live 15 miles from work. I make my trips count and call it good. I get 15mpg in a 04 Yukon so I do not drag main too much. feeding a horse and riding that to town would probably make gas prices seem priced right. one store charges 3.99 for same gas, they have not discussed price fixing yet is my guess. ha

I am fortunate that The Man that bought the Gas station that is Closest to me is a Great Guy.

He is several miles from the Interstate and does not Participate in the (Gas Markup).

Is He as cheap as places like QT ?

No.

Is he cheaper than S H ell gas stations ? Yes

Yep, no reason why. 5-6 months ago it was a dollar cheaper

$5.10 today at my go to. In one hour it went from 5.05 to 5.10!

Took a $0.20 jump from $3.19 to $3.39 for 87 octane corn squeezins. The Memorial Day weekend should prove to be interesting with the start of the 'ol
"summer driving season" upon us then!

Mark, curious, what year was that at 23.9 per gallon? I suspect that is an older picture of that 'Vette at that price. Possibly around late 60's perhaps?

I will say I prefer those C1 'Vettes over the ones offered today even tho the performance does not even begin to compare at all.

Not sure on the year of the pic, one I found online. Personally I never paid that little for gas. Whatever prices were in 75 was what I would have paid since thats when I got my license. I did work at gas stations as a kid but the ol memory is a little fuzzy on what prices were. I just know I had to wash the windows, check the tires and oil along with pumping the gas. The good ol days lol.

We are stuck at $5 a gallon or more here in in the republic of california, + or - a few cents here and there. A new president or governor may help. But I do not think either of those things are possible anymore with things the way they are now.

I'm surprised it's only 5.00. Went into town today to see the prices at 5.95 cash, midgrade. Premium and diesel were over 6. The way things are going by this weekend we'll be seeing over 6.00 and we haven't even switched over to the 'summer blend' yet

Yup, far northern California here, currently $5.65 (cash) for 87 octane.... fully expect to see $6, just not sure when.
