Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
Jim,
Thanks for that panel doesn't fit the gmc dash boards like I was kinda hoping but that's ok it wont go to waste lol I found another spot to put it in that will work beautifully! take an eyeball and the preliminarys Sean Wolff now and interesting question for you Jim after I get the mods done for this setup could I send you a template back for a possible recast or however you do this magic with a few more mods I am going to make for mine? these vents in the picture say they are a 2.706 diameter I am trying to find out from vintage air what the hole size is for them. I have this style in my daily driver and love them!

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
i need your opinions. on the custom 2.5 in vents im making would you want the bezel to be chrome like this one or black so you can paint it dash color.?
the original face plate is Fawn with the vents only in chrome so to follow suit im painting my black bezel Fawn to stick with the original theme. but i still want some outside thoughts. try and picture the vent chrome this reddish pink one is my prototype and i dont have any in chrome for pics yet.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
I would like chrome, my project is more custom than resto. I'm gonna need 4 when I get that far. 2 in the center and 1 at each end.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

made a new faceplate mold without the logo for reasons I'm sure you can understand why. just poured the first part. lets hope it turns out. I will take photos later.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
Cool to see you are still going on these I use to do a lot of urethane casting for work producing short runs of prototype parts from silicone tools It's hard work but satisfying when you produce the prefect part.
Have you tried using some anti foaming agent in the urethane such as http://www.bjbenterprises.com/af-4/ It could help lower your failure rate by reducing air bubbles in the urethane before you pour and it also helps it to degas it faster. I have no association with BJB but have just used the product in the past and it does help. Also if you polish the pins they will pull out of the casting with less resistance or risk of cracking the casting. Keep up the good work cheers |
