Nice to see you poking away at your service truck.
I can't wait to see some paint on it.

Thanks for posting, guys.
Trucks that are Trucks.
I do like the practicality of the box.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

Sorry for not being around lately and answering my Private Messages.
I've been blitzed with work and school.
Please just ask your questions about the 14-bolt and front discs here in this thread.
Chances are others can also lend their knowledge, and/or others can benefit if we post in a thread rather than Private Message.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

I drew some house plans up for a long time good friend that I sold this truck to. Now he wants to give this truck back to me for drawing his plans.

Yep, we cut a deal. He's giving me the truck and some cash for the drawings.
I'm going to try and emulate this one:

Your's was one of the first threads I followed after discovering this forum..
Your service truck..
Then you got your truck back..
I've owned a dozen or more trucks in that time..
Keep on rocking..

I had hoped my old construction partner was going to be able to make use of it, but he has since left it parked out at his property for the last few years.
I kind of feel like I'm saving it. I don't plan on doing anything major but maybe clean it up and paint it orange. I'll keep the box white. Mechanically everything had been upgraded. Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, 14-Bolt, and a low mileage GM crate 350.
Sometime this month we're supposed to see if we can start it.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

Went by and looked at the 66 today.
I guess I should have expected it to be a little rough. A good pressure wash will help.
I meant to get a picture. Here is a satellite pic from Google maps. He's got some wood stacked up on the bed.

We haven't been able to find a time that works for both of us.
I really don't need the 66, but I don't want to leave it out in the field of his property.
I'll clean it back up and then put it up for sale so I can get me a 62-65 nova for a daily driver.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

Got her running. I had to syphon the old gas out. Swap on a different carb I had stored away. I had to jump the wiring to get it to turn over.
And now she's running great. I even drove her up and down our road a few times.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

Gave her good pressure washing today.
I forgot to take a pic, but the almond paint comes off pretty easy. That's okay, I don't want to own a pretty truck. I have a few mechanical things I need to button down, but other than that, this 66 will be my truck for a few years so I can take my time doing upgrades to my 65.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

I know I change ideas and directions quite often, but it's because I have a constant struggle with what I think would be cool to do, and what is practical. I really have no need for a service truck anymore. I already have a fleetside bed that I acquired a few years ago, so I'm going to sell the service box and put the fleetside bed on this 66. Then, because it already has the mechanical upgrades, I'm going to keep this 66 to use as a truck while I tear down my 65 and do all the upgrades I've been wanting to do to it for several years, but didn't want to tear her down for fear I'd need her.

It's kinda sad because I had some cool ideas for the box, but I sold the box today.
Hopefully I'll get the fleetside bed mounted on the truck next weekend.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

I'm pretty impressed with how everything mechanically is good after sitting for 5 years out in that field. I spent the last couple weeks buttoning down a few odds and ends. I just need to get new tags and then I can start driving it.
