Re: post up your camping pics
dieseldawg142, Your pictures make me homesick for a place I have never been. The mountains call to me, I just need to leave my current life with security and move to a place where I believe I will actually be happy every day.
Thank you for all the great pictures, please keep it up |

Re: post up your camping pics
Absolutely awesome views! Thanks for all the pics. Makes me jealous. Now that I think about it, why do you tease us like this? I don't have to put up with this.

Re: post up your camping pics
welp, been putting some big miles on the stepper this week.
went up to my dad's place in Falkland, 'bout 250 miles each way, a 3 to 3 1/2 drive by hiway....but i hate the highway- too boring. i take a shortcut threw Douglas lake ranch, 'bout 40 miles shorter each way, but takes longer- around 5 hrs. not because it's a knarly rd, but because it has MAJOR washboard 90% of the way. even with IFS i was 1st or 2nd gear all the way, any faster and the truck would start skittering sideways. desolate place, dont really want to break down there... went to help my dad work on his retirement home, mite need this to move material (heh heh...) just as i was leaving, a storm rolled in. got a one in a million shot, a flash of lightning, threw the truck window, as i'm driving...ta-daaa cows hanging out... 'bout a 40 min drive out of Merritt out in the middle of nowhere is this big hydro station |

Re: post up your camping pics
How recent are these pics? Any snow there yet? If I remember you are just north of me in BC. This has been a very mild starting winter out west. Last year at this time I was half way to my knees in snow logging and 30 below. November was the coldest month of the winter here.

Re: post up your camping pics
been off work last 2 days at home feeling like carp with a horrible cold.
today i decided to make myself feel better...lol went for a drive up Harrison lake east FSR, it's only about 20 mins from my house, literally in our back yard, but i have'nt been up there since 1991. it's a beautiful area, but the yahoo's from Vancouver turn the whole area into a real gong show every weekend and all summer, so we just have'nt bothered going there in awhile.. last time we were there was in '91 with my then young wife in my '76 K5, we drove to Shovel creek road, which is a very remote back way into Nahatlatch valley. driving that road you go prepared, extremely rough, there is NO ONE around, no type of cell service, it would be a hurtin' place to break down...planning on going up there in a couple months once the snow lifts... polaroid scan from 26 yrs ago....that blob in the foreground was my thumb.. down at Harrison lake before the FSR let dawg out at the boat launch, yeah, it's a ferd, but not too bad... |

Re: post up your camping pics
run into these wannabe's on the way up with there yuppy-mobiles, they stopped at the gravel. guess their roadside assistance does'nt cover wiping the dirt off their mudflaps...
with the snow meltdown and the logging trucks, the road was bloody rough- pothole city. and not just regular potholes, logger potholes, foot, foot and a half deep, sometimes more... Echo island, and Cascade Bay |
